Sue McLeod Personnel Manager KUSB-TV 1234 University Place UCSB Santa Barbara, CA 93106

Dear Mr. Dean:

As a native of , I have long been familiar with your leadership in news. When I saw your ad in Broadcast Programming, I immediately decided to write.

As you can see from the enclosed resume, I will be graduating with a degree in Television Production from Smith University in June of 2004. I feel that this academic preparation, together with the invaluable experience I've had at KABC in Los Angeles, qualifies me for the position of field producer that you outline in your ad.

I will be in Santa Barbara over my Spring break (Mar. 22nd to Mar. 29th) and would very much like to talk to you about employment at KUSB.

I will call the second week in March and try to set up an appointment. I am very much looking forward to talking to you.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Mary Elizabeth Smith
