Media Release Monday, July 28, 2014 Foxtel announces stars signing on for The Kettering Incident

Foxtel today announced Elizabeth Debicki and Matt Le Nevez are set to star in The Kettering Incident, an eight episode mystery drama for Foxtel’s SoHo channel from Porchlight Films and Sweet Potato Films, which will commence shooting in Tasmania next month.

Debecki won this year’s ACCTA Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in ’s and has three more films in post-production Macbeth, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Everest. Before starting on The Kettering Incident, she will appear on the New York stage, alongside and , in the Sydney Theatre Company’s production of for the Lincoln Centre Festival.

Le Nevez has won an AFI Award for Best Supporting Actor in Television Drama for Marking Time, a TV WEEK Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actor for The Society Murders and been acclaimed and adored as Offspring’s Dr Patrick Reid.

“The Tasmanian setting is also an integral part of the storytelling and it is very exciting to be the first television drama series to explore the creative opportunities of the state’s captivating landscapes and dark wilderness.”

The story begins when Doctor Anna Macy (Debicki) finds herself inexplicably linked to the cases of two girls who have mysteriously disappeared in identical circumstances in the wilds of Tasmania 15 years apart. Anna must delve into her troubled past and face some truths about herself and the otherworldly nature of this gothic land.

Le Nevez will play a police detective, a manipulative and dangerous antagonist to Anna Macy.

The Kettering Incident is being produced by Vincent Sheehan of Porchlight Films (Animal Kingdom, The Hunter and The Rover) in association with Sweet Potato Films’ Victoria Madden as co-creator and producer and Foxtel’s Commissioning Editor of Drama Penny Win is executive producer.

The full cast for The Kettering Incident will be announced as the shoot gets underway in August.

The series will be directed by Rowan Woods and Tony Krawitz with writers Victoria Madden, Andrew Knight, Cate Shortland and Louise Fox. Andy Walker is the series producer.

The Kettering Incident will be filmed entirely on location in Tasmania, around Kettering, Bruny Island and south eastern Tasmania, and has secured funding from Screen Australia and Screen Tasmania. BBC Worldwide has the international distribution rights.
