Simon Henderson is the Baker Fellow and Director of the Gulf and Energy Policy Program at The Washington Institute, specialising in energy matters, and the conservative Arab states of the Gulf region. A former journalist with the BBC and the Financial Times, Mr Henderson has also worked as a consultant advising corporations and governments on the Gulf. Mr Henderson has also written extensively on the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and will add his reflections on this agreement one year after its signing. What are the new geopolitical realities facing the Arab world? How might these issues affect the region’s relationship with ? What are the implications of the ending of sanctions on Iran? In conjunction with the /Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC), AIIA Victoria is delighted to welcome Mr Simon Henderson to Melbourne and invites you to a wide-ranging discussion on the Gulf region. Simon Henderson is the Baker Fellow at The Washington Institute and Director of the Institute's Gulf and Energy Policy Program. He became an associate of the Institute in 1999 and joined the staff in 2006. He started his career with the British Broadcasting Corporation before joining the Financial Times. His experience includes serving as a foreign correspondent in Pakistan in 1977- 78, and reported from Iran during the 1979 Islamic revolution and seizure of the U.S. Embassy. His areas of expertise include Gulf States, energy and economics, Gulf and energy policy and proliferation. He holds an MBA from Cass Business School, London; and a BA from Nottingham University.
