609. 4-118 GIATZIZOGLOU: 2-COLOR SILHOUETTE OF A U.S. MAP Project Coordinator: Lucia Domville The fourth grade auction art project focused on reinforcing the kids’ learning curricula of U.S. states. Students created a 2-color silhouette of a U.S. map. Kids filled the inner and outer side of the map with a colorful rice paper collage to create a series of multiple U.S. maps in different colors. This 33”x 49” project leverages Andy Warhol’s pop art technique to create a wonderful U.S. map art piece.

610. 501 KIRKSEY-FLOYD: HARDCOVER COMMEMORATIVE Project Coordinator: David Bergman 12” X 12”, Hardcover Commemorative book of action portraits. The kids of class 501 were photographed by class parent David Bergman, who works for clients including Sports Illustrated and Bon Jovi. Class Projects 17 Class Projects 611. 502 JOHNSON: SHOW YOUR WORK Project Coordinator: Steve Weintraub “Show Your Work” is a collage of solutions to a set of math problems given to each student in class 502. 612. 503 DECHILLO: DIGITAL SELF Project Coordinator: George Michael Brower and Robert Wong Ms. Dechillo’s students first explored the intersection of computer programming and creativity with designer/developer George Michael Brower. Then each student used the Androidify app he coded to create their digital selves — each digital portrait represents the unique size, look, style and personality of each child. The resulting characters were composed into a visually stunning piece of art and set in a 28” x 38” light white wood museum quality frame. It makes a striking centerpiece in any room.

80 “My father’s mother, Maria Zasa, was an Italian born in Tunisia, a French protectorate at the time. It was a treat to grow up with a grandmother who spoke English, Italian, Arabic and French. I remember the little French songs—Francis she would Ford sing Coppola to us about the marionettes, and also her toast when she was about to sip a glass of wine. She would always say, ‘à votre santé,’ meaning, ‘to your health.’”
