DASD has selected Rosetta Stone® as our online world language learning solution for students in first through fifth grade. Multilingual skills are a critical success factor in our global society, and we provide our students with an opportunity to learn the language skills they need to be effective and successful in today’s changing world. Rosetta Stone’s interactive and award-winning creates an intuitive and engaging environment for thinking and communicating in a new language.

With Rosetta Stone®, students will have access to the following both in and out of school:

 Rosetta Course®: Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are introduced in core lessons, then key skills, such as and vocabulary, are refined in focused activities. Speech recognition technology evaluates the pronunciation of each word and sentence, providing immediate feedback.

Students will learn using The Rosetta Stone® program one period per six-day cycle. They may also log in to the program from any internet-connected computer outside of school. Parents/Guardians will have access to student progress reports at any time.

Rosetta Stone Classroom - Language Description and Selection Form

Arabic is spoken by more than 200 million native speakers, and is an official language of more than 20 countries and the United Nations. In terms of the number of speakers, Arabic is the largest living member of the Semitic Language family. In Arabic, the script is written right to left.

Chinese Chinese is the native language of more than 1 billion speakers, more people than any other language. It is spoken throughout China, Malaysia, Singapore, and in many overseas Chinese communities. Rosetta Stone offers Mandarin Chinese. The Simplified, Traditional, and Pin-Ying scripts are all available in the software.

French French is the official language of France and its overseas territories. The is spoken in more than 50 other countries and is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. French is a romance language, as are Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Catalan, and Romanian.

German German is the official language of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Liechtenstein, and Luxembourg. It is spoken in many European countries as a second language and is the third most taught and translated language in the world. Around the world, German is spoken by approximately 100 million native speakers and also by about 80 million non-native speakers. The German language is the fourth most spoken at home in the USA (1.4 million) behind English, Spanish, and French.

Hindi Hindi is the official language of India. It is also used in many other countries, including Fiji and Nepal. There are over 400 million speakers of Hindi around the world.

Italian Italian is the native language of over 60 million people, and is the official language of Italy, the Republic of San Marino, and the Vatican. You will notice that some Italian words use accent marks which help you properly pronounce the word.

Japanese The is spoken by more than 130 million people in Japan and Japanese communities around the world. Japanese is written with no spaces between words. Japanese words change depending on the formality of the situation. Rosetta Stone teaches you to communicate in informal or formal Japanese, as appropriate for the situation.

Spanish ( American) Latin American Spanish is primarily spoken in Central and South America and is the primary Spanish spoken in the United States. The Spanish spoken in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, and the Caribbean have a distinct accent particular to those countries. In the United States, 34 million people (12.2% of the population older than 5) speak Spanish at home.
