As a priority the traffic management proposed on both school road and Swallowfield road would massively increase the safely of the village, in particular the children growing up here 1. Feel that the modal filter on School Road will only make the traffic divert through the main village instead and make School Road a car park/turning point for Parents. Also will make Link Road a cut through and create more traffic through Eversley Road. Maybe would be best to include more traffic calming measures and prohibit large vehicles. Most Parents park on side of road causing traffic problems in the first place. 2. Prohibit Large vehicles through Arborfied Cross Village. 3. Fear that the priority build out of Eversley Road would cause a build up of traffic outside houses on Eversley Road in the village going the other way. My main concern about wildflower meadows are the are expensive to establish properly and skilled to maintain if not they return quickly to weeds and scrub, there are better uses of money. The measures are welcome to allow a village enivoment I'm very pleased that cycle lanes are being considered. Working in Reading, a half hour cycle ride to work is nice, but Reading road is tough. I really advocate cycle lanes that allow for fast cycling on-road - for commuters like me, shared use paths are okay but much, much slower. 1. Make the speed limit 20mph throughout the village. 2. The cycle lane should be EASTBOUND on Reading Road. This is because eastbound is uphill and traffic gets stuck behind slow moving cycles and drivers try to overtake dangerously. I strongly disagree with the modial filter making school road a dead end as my daughter attends The Coombes school, due to the fact at school times it is so dangerous anyway out side the school with parents turning around, if it is a dead end all traffic will be turning around by the drop off lay- by. Also people that work in Wokingham will start using link way as a cut through rather than queuing at the round about at Arborfield cross, this again will make walking to and from school and crossing to go down Swallowfield road even more dangerous as there will be even more cars coming out of school road, vehicles never use the correct lane or indicate at the roundabout anyway. Every effort should be made via signage to direct vehicle traffic onto the new relief road These are excellent and essential proposals to maximise the use of the by-pass and preserve the village environment To deliver all the benefits of the Arborfield relief road all suggested changes in this improvement survey need to be adopted I support all the recomendations 1.) None of the proposals address the speed and immediate significant acceleration of traffic coming off the roundabout at the Bull Inn into the top of the village on the A327 past the old Swan Inn pub. Resident / access only or Priority workout build out desperately needed around what is almost a blind corner. 2.) The priority working build out on the A327 Reading Road is not close enough to the village to slow traffic approaching the Bull Roundabout. It needs to be much closer to the Bull Inn. The high approaching speed of traffic to the Bull roundabout from the A327 Reading Road is a significant contributing factor to the speed of traffic leaving the roundabout on the A327 past the old Swan Inn pub. (point 1) Please don't waste my tax payers money on unnecessary features when there are better more deserving projects it could be spent on. Benefits of a bypass would be negated if all these suggested "improvements" go ahead severely inconveniencing existing residents who have lived through the gradual growth in traffic through the village but instead of benefitting from a bypass would be pushed into living in a backwater with unnecessary traffic calming ideas.
