DAIKIN DECK UNIT "USD-GC / USDP-GC / USDN-HA" series 1. Introduction of DAIKIN DECK UNIT "DECK UNIT" is one of the Central Air Conditioners for accommodation area, which is assembled in advance by the manufacturer as a self-contained unit and installed in the machine room on the accommodation deck. DAIKIN DECK UNIT- "USD-GC / USDP-GC / USDN-HA series is optimally designed for marine application and also gentle for the environment.

2. Features z Very Less Operating Vibration and Lower Noise designed for installing in the accommodation The adoption of Hermetic Scroll Compressors makes the operating vibration and noise remarkably lower. This allows the units to install in the accommodation area without troublesome problem. z High Static Pressure Fan Easily Conforming to Complex Duct System The high-performance fan can adapt the complex duct system with middle to higher pressure. z The Light Weight and Compact Design of Top Level in the Field Because of low height ranging from 1,550 to 1,650 mm, the unit can be easily installed in even space- limited deck. Also the light weight from 1,100 to 1,600 kg does not interfere with the cruising speed of high-speed ferry. z Epoch-making Save Energy in Spite of HFC Unit Optimally designed Hermetic Scroll Compressors and heat exchangers combined with high- performance fan reduce the power consumption by 15 to 20 %, compared with conventional units. This also contributes to control the CO2 emission from the generator. z Excellent Durability for Marine Application Higher reliability is secured by the concentration of the DAIKIN advanced technology, for sea water, sea breeze and ship motion. z Economical Maintenance on Board Installing compressors, which realize 40,000h in design service life, in plural not only realizes the free maintenance on board, but save the service cost of compressors by half, compared with the conventional unit. This also enables the unit to continuously operate even in trouble of one compressor. Furthermore, the lighter compressor provided with lifting hook allows replacing work to be easier on board. z Easier and Safer Maintenance on Board The compressor is so changed to flange connection type that it can be replaced on board more easily and safely in case of gas carrier. (USDN25~50HA only) Furthermore, provided liquid eye make it easier to watch refrigerant leakage. (USDN25~50HA only)

3. Guide Specifications „ Hermetically Sealed Scroll Compressors The compressor optimally developed for R22 / R407C / R404A has a longer durability, higher efficiency and very less vibration, compared with the conventional Semi-hermetic compressor. „ Condenser The condenser is a shell and cross fin tube type highly efficient and highly resistant to sea water. It is made of aluminum brass in the cooling tubes, naval clad steel in the tube sheet and cast iron with sacrificial anodes in the water jackets. The joints for water thermometers are provided in the inlet and outlet headers (except USD25GC / USDP25GC / USDN25HA). „ Evaporator The evaporator is a cross fin coil type highly efficient and highly resistant to sea breeze. It is made of copper tubes and aluminum fins with highly anti-corrosive and hydrophilic treatment. „ Steam heater The steam heater is a cross fin coil type highly resistant to change of air temperature and sea breeze as well. It is made of copper tubes and aluminum fins with highly anti-corrosive treatment. „ Fan and its relative parts Highly performed multi-blade fan (USD25GC / USD30GC / USDP25GC / USDP30GC / USDN25HA, USDN30HA) or turbo fan (USD40GC / USD50GC / USDP40GC / USDP50GC / USDN40HA, USDN50HA) is mounted based on those application, driven by V belts with a separate fan motor. The fan bearings are forced oil feed system, highly durable for sea breeze. The fan motor is "B" class insulation, totally enclosed fan cooled type, prescribed in JIS C4210.

„ Control The unit is operated by the push button switch, and the operating condition can be confirmed by each pilot lamp. The meaning of each pilot lamp is -"White" : "Normal power into the unit"and "Green" : "Normal operation". If "Red" lights up, any safety device works to stop the unit till removing the applied cause. Multiple compressors are sequentially started in direct-on-line in order to minimize the starting current. The capacity is controlled in two steps mainly by local thermostat (or possibly by internal thermostat as well) according to the basis air temperature. The following electric and safety devices are equipped in the starter or inside the unit to make the maintenance saving on board. Non-fuse breakers and ammeters are equipped in the starter for each circuit of comp. or fan motor. Over current relay (each comp., fan motor), fuses, thermal protectors, high and low pressure switches and reverse phase protector and so on are equipped in order to prevent the abnormal operation. The contact terminals indicating "Normal" or "Abnormal" are provided for connecting to the central observation board. The power and control cables to/from the central board can be conducted through combing holes on the bottom side of the starter. „ Structure The outside and inside plates are constructed with the rigid frame in long durability. Anti-corrosive acrylic powder painting is coated even in every nook and corner-casing, drain pan, bottom frame, partition plate, fan housing and fan motor base, etc. Either right or left drain connection allows the condensing drain water to smoothly discharge outside in rolling angle. „ Applicable Standard The unit is certified by NK standard. This system is so independent only for the air conditioning in the accommodation that any other rules of classification society are excluded except the ship owner's special request.

7.1 Additional refrigerant charge on site

Caution to personnel who charge refrigerant z Be sure to open the stop valve after refrigerant charging. (Operation with a closed valve may cause a failure in the compressor.) z Do not release the refrigerant into the atmosphere without reason. (Law Concerning the Recovery and Destruction of Fluorocarbons) z Even if air bubbles are generated in the liquid eye, do no add any refrigerant as long as the specified amount of refrigerant has been already charged. Failing to obey this may damage the equipment.

Additional refrigerant charging REFRIGERANT AMOUNT OF FIELD The specified amount of refrigerant is not filled at factory set to conform to the Law ADDITIONAL CHARGE (kg) Concerning the Recovery and Destruction of Fluorocarbons. Fill the refrigerant amount MODEL REFRIGERANT 1 2 NAME NAME SYSTEM SYSTEM of field additional charge listed in the right table. Refrigerant charge procedure

CONDENSER INLET STOP VALVE

CONDENSER OUTLET STOP VALVE PORT

1. Prepare a scale for refrigerant measurement and place a refrigerant cylinder on it. 2. Run cooling water through. 3. Check if the condenser inlet stop valve (V1) is open. If not, open it manually. 4. Fill the refrigerant from the condenser outlet stop valve (V2) and the refrigerant charge port (gauge joint with check valve). (The stop valve is half closed.) zConnect the refrigerant cylinder with the charge hose (manifold gauge) to release air from the hose. zCharge the specified amount of liquid refrigerant with the refrigerant cylinder HCFC (R22) upside down and the refrigerant cylinder HFC (R404A and R407C) upright. 5. When any more refrigerant cannot be charged since a good balance between the high pressure and the low pressure has been reached, set the condenser outlet stop valve to "close" and then operate the compressor. 6. When the charged amount almost reaches the amount that is 1kg minus from the specified amount, narrow down the valve of the refrigerant cylinder. Then continue charging until the specified amount is achieved. 7. After the specified amount of refrigerant has been charged, close the outlet stop valve (V2) to perform pump down operation. Detach the charge hose immediately after stop. Otherwise, the liquid refrigerant may gush out to cause frostbite. 8. Using a permanent marker, leave the charge amount, date of charge, company name and person who charged the refrigerant on the label for additional refrigerant charge attached under the operation switch.

Trial operation The previous page only explains additional refrigerant charging. Refer to the operation manual for other operations. 1. Check if the condenser inlet stop valve (V1) and the condenser outlet stop valve (V2). If not, open them. 2. Start operation. 3. Refer to the operation manual for start and stop operation. 4. Press the start button of the compressor. zThe compressor does not start for 10 minutes after the fan breaker is energized or when the antifreeze thermostat is operating. In normal operation other than the above, the compressor immediately starts cooling operation. 5. Press the stop button of the compressor. zThe cooling operation will stop. zThe fan operation will continue.

Installment z Fix the unit to a stable auxiliary equipment bench. auxiliary equipment z Fix the unit firmly with attached installment screw holes to prevent hull oscillation from moving the unit. bench z A large vibration on the installment surface can damage the unit. In this case, use cushioning materials such as rubber pads to install the unit. Use a flexible tube for cooling water and refrigerant pipings.

60 t=6.0 or type

Cautions on (1) Set up a level installment bench frame that can adequately support the weight of the unit. A clearance in installation the frame causes noise to echo and spread from the unit bottom frame. The circumference of the frame must be enclosed. (2) The precaution of noise protection must be taken, if the living space exists around or under the unit. If necessary, use foundation bolt holes on the unit bottom frame to fix an antishock pad between the installment frame and the unit bottom frame. Use antivibration tube joints (flexible tubes) for cooling water, hot water, steam, and drain pipings.

Drain piping Be sure to provide a trap on each drain outlet. That is why the trap will prevent not only the induction of bad smell but also slow action of drain stream caused by the negative pressure inside the air conditioner during operation. An example of drain trap installation is shown below. "Head corresponding to the negative pressure" in the Figure stands for the head corresponding to the negative pressure arisen in the air conditioner.

Thermostat The thermostat (23A1) built in the units USD-GC / USDP-GC / USDN-HA is provided as a low temperature protector. Accordingly, this thermostat (23A1) should not be used for indoor temperature control. Provide a room thermostat or a thermostat (23A2) in the return duct in the local field so as to control temperature. [Location] z Provide a temperature sensor in the return duct or around the inlet part of the return duct. z Select the location where direct sunshine, chilled air, heated air, and other radiation heat don't influence the sensor. z Refer to the electric wiring diagram concerning the wiring works. [Note for the thermostat selection] z Select the thermostat with the differential by 2°C or more, and not to act ON/OFF in a short time.

Cautions for the (1) Regulating the water flow condenser If the water flow rate (water velocity) exceeds the specified amount, tubes can be damaged in a maintenance short time. Control the water flow to maintain the following guidelines. z Condensing temperature : 30°C or higher z Temp. difference of in - and outlet : 3°C or higher

(2) Replacing anticorrosive zinc plates Cautions If lined pipes are used in the cooling water piping, the anticorrosive zinc plates may wear faster. Check the degree of wear once every month after the start of service and clean the inside of the sacrificial pipes (field supply parts) at the same time. Replace the anticorrosive zinc plates at least once every three months.

In order to make the condenser last longer, check the zinc plates for corrosion protection at least once every 3 months. If worn out, make sure to replace it. When checking, be sure to turn off the power source of pump.

(3) Cleaning the condenser cooling tubes Cautions Conditions may vary depending on the water quality according to the ship course and/or operating hours.

Clean the cooling tubes if necessary. Before starting cleaning, be sure to cut the power supply to the pump and close the stop valves at the inlet and outlet of cooling water.
