Scheduling for the 2019-2020 School Year Happening Now! Parents, counselors have completed classroom visits for scheduling for the 2019-2020 school year, so you should be having discussions with your child about the courses he or she will be signing up for next year in the context of their graduation requirements. Course books went home with students as well as a copy of a scheduling worksheet. The scheduling worksheet must be turned in by March 15. We also want students to schedule on the IC student portal. The portal will be open from March 11 to March 22. Students can log into their portal accounts and enter their elective choices. That part of the process should only take a few minutes.

If a student is going to change a level in a class next year (e.g. moving from English 2 to English 3 Honors), the teacher of that subject must sign the student’s scheduling worksheet. A signature represents that a conversation took place and the teacher endorsed that decision with the student. Also, parent signatures are required because they represent that those discussions are taking place at home.

As a reminder, for those students officially in the ADVANCE PROGRAM: A third year of a language is a requirement to earn an ADVANCE DIPLOMA in the district. Other requirements include -- the student maintaining a 3.0 GPA, taking a total of 12 ADVANCE or AP credits while in high school, and taking ADVANCE Humanities (or the 4-yr arts pathway). Please keep that in consideration as you schedule if this applies to your child.

The HONORS DIPLOMA requires any student to take all core content at the HONORS level or higher, two years of a world language, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better upon graduation.

Upcoming Graduated Licensing Course Students needing to fulfill their Graduated Driver Licensing requirement can register now for a class that will be held on Tuesday, March 12th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. You can register at www.kentuckysafedriver.com and you will need code “EH347Q“ to enroll.

Project Graduation 2019 Note: Project graduation is a parent organization. It is not sponsored by Eastern High School.

While we might have snow flurries this week, the end of the school year and graduation will be here before we know it..... The project graduation committee is in full force and needs your help!

This event is a big undertaking but it is well worth it for our seniors. Even if you do not have a graduating senior this year, you can still help. You will get a chance to see what’s in store for your kids when they graduate.

If you are interested in helping in any way, please contact Karen Pridemore at [email protected] or 502-807-6424. Thanks so much!

Free Money!!! If you have not registered your Kroger Rewards Card to designate a “donation” to an educational plan, please take 90 seconds and do it now! To register: https://www.kroger.com/account/enrollCommunityRewardsNow

We are losing FREE MONEY! For every one dollar you spend at Kroger, including gas, our PTSA can gain 4% cash as a donation at NO COST to you! Our goal is to get 10% of EHS families (about 200) to register for EHS PTSA, we could get more money to be able to improve the book store and do more for our school kids and teachers!

Thanks in advance for supporting the PTSA! Go Eagles!!

Dress Code for Dances Our staff is happy to volunteer personal time to provide activities such as the dances students enjoy so much. However, in recent years the length of some of the female students’ skirts have continued to climb, making it very difficult to monitor our ticket lines of students coming into the dance as we deal with dress code. In light of this, we are clarifying the dress code for the events and need your help in making sure in advance that clothing is appropriate:

o must be no more than 2 inches above the top of the kneecap (measurement will be taken at the end line of the main fabric of the dress, not at the end of any sheer material enhancing the dress)

o Slits must be no more than 2 inches above the top of the kneecap

o Dresses must be complete with no cut outs or sheer material that expose the stomach or sides

o Dresses must not have plunging necklines or backs that are cut out below the natural waist

Attire for those not wearing dresses, must include:

o Collared or Tuxedo Shirt

o Tie

o Dress Pants

o Dress Shoes

o or Tuxedo Jacket

Students will not be allowed to wear jeans, tennis shoes, or baseball caps.

Students must be dressed appropriately to be admitted and must remain in dress code for the duration of the event. Ticket prices will not be refunded if a student is not dressed appropriately and has to be turned away or removed from the event.

We realize that many of the local retailers provide a large selection of evening and party dresses, but our events are not “club events” or “private party” events. They are for high school age students. We appreciate in advance your assistance in ensuring students are dressed appropriately for these events.
