The sessions on ICT Integrated Pedagogy held on 9th and 10th March presented a great amalgamation of skill and technology to the participants. The sessions held in the computer lab gave a great opportunity to them to practise on some of the latest technologies which could play a significant role in building a learning framework.

The first two sessions by Mr. Rakesh B., Project Associate-IT, IT for Change, highlighted the use of some open source technologies to the participants. The sessions' handouts had already been shared by the trainer. He gave them a hands- on on usage of UBUNTU and then demonstrated the use of tools like Freeplane to create a mind map, Tux Paint to create images representing content and Kazam to create videos for the learners.

The participants were asked to create mindmaps which they learnt very enthusiastically.

Mr. Rakesh also explained the concept of MOODLE and showed how teacher and student accounts could be created, material uploaded, assignments taken and much more. All these technologies demonstarted how easy it could be to create a LMS and CMS that can improve the qualtity of teaching and learning.

Mr. Rakesh B. is a Project Associate-IT, IT for Change and has 7 years’ experience in the IT and the education sector. IT for Change is an NGO based in Bangalore, India. It was established in 2000. Its focus areas are Internet Governance, Gender, Education, and Development and Democracy.

In the next session, Dr. Nikhil Rajput, Assistant Professor, Ramanujan College demonstrated the use of Google Classroom in every day teaching. He showed how to create a teacher account and add students; the participants followed suite. He also showed how to create, submit and evaluate assignments and take a live quiz. The participants really cherished the idea of setting up such a framework in such a simple manner.

Dr. Nikhil Rajput is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Ramanujan College, University of Delhi. He pursued his PhD. from JNU. He has 10 years of teaching experience. Positions held: • Director, Centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Ramanujan College • Director, Centre for Social Innovation, Ramanujan College • Assistant Director, Kaushal Kendra, Ramanujan College • Assistant Director, Teaching Learning Centre, Ramanujan College • Principal Investigator in University of Delhi funded Star Innovation Projects, “Robotics in HealthCare” and “Sociovation” • Served as Program Chair in various conferences and Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Machine Learning and Networked Collaborative Engineering • Acted as a representative member of UGC in Australia-India Vocational Education Leadership Training Programme held in Australia in March 2017. • Visited West College, Scotland as a part of UKIERI Project in 2015.

The second day saw the first session by Prof. Kamal Bijlani, Director, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab, Amrita University. He demonstrated the use of the A-View and AMPLE technologies to the participants as a personalized learning framework. The participants were mesmerised seeing and using the concepts of selfie based attendance in which through just a click they could record students' attendance. Also, the ability to take and evaluate a live multiple choice quiz by assigning each student a barcode like placard seemed really interesting. There were many such features which could not be shown due to lack of time but the idea itself spoke of why A-View was awarded one of the best internet innovations in the world by CISCO.

Prof. Kamal Bijlani is the Director of Amrita E-Learning Research Lab. Prof. Bijlani leads several Educational Technology projects with central and state ministries. He is the Principal Investigator and Chief Architect of the A-VIEW platform developed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

Outcomes of the Workshop

The participants were asked to rate their level of knowledge prior to attending the workshop and after the workshop. The results are as follows:

1. Research- There was an increase in the number of participants who rated their knowledge of the topics on research as ‘excellent’ from 7.7% to 46% while 38.5% rated their level to be ‘good’ after attending the workshop.

2. Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) - Around 46% of the participants started with a ‘poor’ understanding of the topics before attending the workshop but after attending the workshop most of the participants (~70%) rated their knowledge to be ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.

3. ICT- Around 69% of the participants had a ‘poor’ or ‘fair’ understanding about ICT prior to the workshop but all of them reported their level to be either ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ after the sessions.

4. The participants found the sessions to be informative especially the ones on ICT- Google Classroom, MOODLE, Microsoft Excel and on Research- Research Tools, LaTeX, Scopus, ISI web of Science Impact Factor, h index.

The valedictory session received highly positive feedback of the participants regarding the FDP. The programme represented participants from six states of India. The course material prepared by the organizing team was distributed among the participants. Moreover, rigorous feedback of the participants as well as of the resource persons was recorded via Google Forms to improve future training programmes by Ramanujan College.
