SEASON CAPSULE Wisconsin finished the 2001 season (the 113th in school history) with a 5-7 overall record and a 3-5 Big Ten mark that left the Badgers in a tie for eighth place.

ALVAREZ UPDATE Head coach Barry Alvarez completed his 12th year at Wisconsin. The winningest coach in school history, his career head coaching Wendell Bryant (77), Anthony Davis (28), Nick Davis (22) and Lee Evans (3) each made finalist or semifinalist lists for various mark (all at the UW) national awards in 2001. Bryant was one of 12 semifinalists for the Lombardi Award. Anthony Davis was one of eight semifi- nalists for the Doak Walker Award.
