Cincinnati Company Guidelines

Cincinnati Ballet holds open auditions for AGMA company contracts and the non-AGMA Second Company program every year. We seek excellent dancers with versatile technique and the drive to grow and mature as an artist.

The following positions are available:

Full Company • AGMA position with all rights and privileges of a union collective bargaining agreement. • Full benefits, including health insurance and optional dental insurance. • A 35-week contract currently. • The opportunity to perform in all productions. • All pointe shoes and ballet shoes provided. • Ranks including principal, senior , soloist, corps, new dancer, and apprentice. • 26 company dancers currently. • 40+ per season.

Cincinnati Ballet Second Company (CBII’s and Trainees) The Cincinnati Ballet Second Company is a group of talented, pre-professional dancers who come from around the world to study at Cincinnati Ballet and perform alongside Cincinnati Ballet’s company dancers. Second Company dancers can be found in the studio from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm every weekday, rehearsing and dancing with the company dancers, and in schools, community centers, churches, nursing homes and more, sharing the joy of throughout the Cincinnati region. With a focus on engaging audiences of all ages, Second Company dancers reach over 20,000 students and community members annually and serve as the education outreach ambassadors for Cincinnati Ballet. • Cincinnati Ballet Second Company dancers are an extension of The Otto M. Budig Academy of Cincinnati Ballet. They receive a full scholarship, and train and rehearse both separately and alongside the professional company. • Second Company dancers perform with Cincinnati Ballet in full-length productions. They also have the opportunity to tour with the Company when the Company tours a full-length ballet, such as . • In addition, Second Company dancers have their own repertory/ opportunities in Cincinnati Ballet’s educational outreach programs and in collaboration with other organizations in the community. • CBII dancers receive a weekly stipend to help cover living expenses. Trainees do not receive a stipend. • Second Company female dancers will be provided with 20 shoes for the season and male dancers will be provided with 10 shoes for the season. Dancers will receive the full benefit of athletic training services and Pilates training from Mercy Wellington located inside Cincinnati Ballet’s facility. • 19 Second Company dancers currently. • It is vitally imperative that a CBII dancer is 18 when his/her commitment with Cincinnati Ballet begins. An audition for the Summer Intensive Program does not count as an audition for a Second Company position.
