“We who have fought in war know intimately about life and death,” says Claude AnShin Thomas. He will share his inspiring spiritual odyssey from combat to becoming a Zen Buddhist Monk as a road map for any of us who are interested to understand life and death in a deeper sense and who want to embark on a journey to live differently in the world. During the seminars, we will practice many different forms of mindfulness meditation: sitting meditation, , eating meditation, silence, mindful speaking and listening, and others. No prior experience with meditation is necessary. Cost: on donation basis* Bring: Please wear comfortable clothes. and bring a small vegetarian dish for the communal meal.

Claude AnShin Thomas has received numerous awards, including the , for his service in the . After struggling with re-entry into society, Thomas studied mindfulness meditation with . He was ordained as a Zen Buddhist Monk in the Japanese Soto Zen Tradition by Baisen Tetsugen Roshi in 1995.
