She replaces Patricia Hornsby at Dunnellon Elementary School. Hornsby will become principal of Marion Oaks Elementary that opens in August. Wilkerson started her career in Marion County a “long-time” ago, she quipped, adding it had been more than 25 years. She has taught at Ft. King Middle, Anthony El- ementary and College Park. Teaching wasn’t her first career choice. At first, she imagined herself as a counselor for delinquent youth, but jobs weren’t forthcoming. Following that dream, she earned her degree in sociology and physiology from the University of South Florida. “Back then, I used to be real thin,” she said, suggesting her petite size
