Paper: *18 x 24" newsprint pad, 100 sheets *18 x 24" medium surface drawing pad, cream color, 100lb, Strathmore 400 series, 24 sheets *18 x 24" toned gray paper pad, Strathmore * Strathmore Bristol Vellum 500 Series, 14" x 17" pad, 15 sheets *9 x 12" spiral-bound sketchbook, toned gray paper, 50 sheets, 80lb, Strathmore 400 series (this, and only this, sketchbook should be used for homework assignments for this class – not shared with other classes, not repurposed, etc.)

Additional loose papers**: *2 or more sheets of toned gray fine art paper, suitable for oil and chalk and colored – Canson MiTeintes Drawing paper, felt or flannel gray, 19 x 25" (or better) *1 or more sheets of toned tan fine art paper, suitable for oil and chalk pastels and colored pencils – Canson MiTeintes Drawing paper, buff, 19 x 25" (or better) * 1 or more sheets of toned Canson MiTeintes "Touch Sanded" paper, steel or flannel gray, 19 x 25" (or better)

(**NOT 18 x 24 paper from a sketch pad) You may use higher quality papers if you choose, but be sure that they are acid-free, archival papers, suitable for the media you are using. (other brand names include Stonehenge, Arches, BFK Rives, Strathmore, Fabriano, Twinrocker, etc.)When in doubt, ask first. It is your responsibility to have correct materials. We will discuss paper during class.)

You will have some freedom to choose your media and surface for the final project, based on your experiences and preferences during the semester, but you will choose from the same basic papers and media that you use during the semester.

Drawing Media Several graphite drawing pencils: 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencils - they really are the world's best . *Set of Conté : black, browns, sanguines, grays, white *Set of Conté pencils: black, browns, sanguines, grays, white *at least 5 art markers with brush/chisel tips: 10% grey, 20% grey, 30% grey, 50% grey, and black (Prismacolor, , or Touch. You may want to buy a set) *Cray-Pas Expressionist extra-fine oil pastels, set of 25. Add additional crayons as needed. *Prismacolor NuPastel firm chalk pastels. Set of 24. *Prismacolor Premier colored pencils, set of 24. (or more, if you want) Black ink pens: Copic, , Micron, Uni-ball, Pilot - fine and needle point

**NO soft chalk pastels allowed in the drawing studio! **

Drawing Aids Kneaded rubber erasers White plastic eraser Blending stumps, 2 to 4 different sizes Chamois, rags, old socks, lint-free towels, t-shirts, cotton balls, swabs, etc. Hog’s hair or synthetic bristle brushes, for clean-up, washes, and blending. Sandpaper pad Sighting stick Fine point dry-erase marker Viewfinder Workable spray fixative Pencil sharpener Large binder or bulldog clips X-Small binder clips to hang work, black or gold only, no colors or patterns. Large (23 x 26) drawing board with clamps and rubber band 1” Blue painter's masking tape or artist’s easy release tape 18” or 24" Cork-backed ruler Tackle box (or similar) to carry supplies Canvas or leather zippered portfolio large enough to accommodate your board Linen hinging tape or plastic corners to protect edges of work when hanging for critique Combination lock

Always be prepared for class. Class time is not shopping time. If you leave class to shop for supplies, you are absent. Don’t make lame excuses.
