Huskers Earn Postseason Accolades Senior guard Nate Johnson picked up the most postseason awards of any Husker in 2004 as he was selected All-Big 12 third-team by the coaches and earned honorable-mention All- Big 12 accolades for the second straight season by the Associated Press. Johnson also was selected to the United States Basketball Writer's Association All-District 6 Team. Along with Johnson, guard Corey Simms was named to the All-Reserve Team and guard Marcus Neal Jr. was selected to the All-Newcomer Team. The Big 12 Specialty Teams were voted on by a panel of sportswriters who regularly cover the conference.  Johnson helped the Huskers to a 16-12 record this season, NU’s first winning campaign since 1998-99. He averaged 13.4 points per game during the regular season, including 14.1 points per game in conference play. Down the stretch, he was at his best as he averaged 16.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists over the final nine regular-season games of the year. Johnson added a pair of double-doubles in that stretch, including a 17- point, 10-rebound performance in a 72-44 victory over No. 25 Texas Tech, while helping the Huskers to a 5-4 mark, after a 1-6 start in league play. Johnson scored double figures 20 times this year, including 14 times in 16 conference games, and grabbed a share of the team scoring lead in 11 games. He tied for the team lead with two double-doubles and 20-point contests (three), and was second to John Turek by leading the team in rebounding six times.
