Dear Parent,

Cross-Country Event at Cotehele - 17th January 2020

On Friday 17th January, we are taking part in a cross-country event, which is being held at Cotehele. DIRECTIONS FROM SALTASH: - From roundabout on A388 side of St.Mellion follow signs to Cotehele, which will turn you right in St.Dominick by the school and down through Bohetherick. At bottom of hill turn right over bridge towards Quay and follow directions to the House. PL12 6TA. This is a National Trust property, so it is important that we respect the grounds. Please lift share as parking is extremely limited. Please could all spectators, and those with time to spare, park in the Quay car park and walk up, as parking is limited at the House. Parking meters are in force for non-National Trust members. Please park sensibly and where indicated by car-park attendants.

Running a cross-country race can be hazardous! A thorough risk assessment of the course has been undertaken, all participants must be aware that they compete at their own risk and neither organisers nor landowners will accept any responsibility for loss, damage or injury howsoever caused. Each child must be in good health and have done some suitable training.

Please note: Course consists of pathways, grass and some tarmac so IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR SPIKES. There will be cold drinks available to purchase from the marshals after the race. Bottled water is available to purchase at 15p and flavoured drinks at 20p or alternatively bring your own. The races start earlier than usual due to the short amount of daylight in January. Please make sure you arrive in good time, as roads near Cotehele can be congested.

In the event of poor weather, the school will be contacted before 12.30pm. Unfortunately, we do not have any transport for this event, please could we ask you to arrange your child’s transport to and from the event, leaving school at 2.30pm in order to arrive in time for registration. The timetable for races is as follows:

3.30pm Yr 3 & 4 girls 3.40pm Yr 3 & 4 boys 3.50pm Yr 5 & 6 girls 4.05pm Yr 5 & 6 boys.

There is an entry fee of £1 per child; would you please send this in into school by Friday 17th January. Please email [email protected] to give permission as per the slip below. Alternatively you can print and return the slip. Please bring a change of warm clothes for afterwards. Smoking is not allowed at this event.

Yours sincerely

Elaine Potterton Secretary
