Bachelor of Commerce Course Started on 4Th June 2013 Annual Report of the Department of B.Com [2019-20]. 1.] Academic Information: Bachelor of Commerce course started on 4th June 2013. Academic year 2019-20 for UG courses was started on 17 th June 2019. 2.] Students’ Achievement: 1. Miss. Kalpavruksha of B.Com 4th semester won 1st Prize in Elocution competition held at Karnatak College Dharwad, won 2 nd prize in youth fest held in Nehru college, Huballi. Also won first prize in UNIFEST Karnatak University. 2. Prachi N.P of B.Com 2nd sem secured 2nd place in Youth Festival held in Nehru College Hubballi. 3. Kavya Koti of B.com 6th secured 3rd Prize in Elocution competition in Youth Festival held in Nehru College, Hubballi. 4. Ramya Neginhal of B.Com 6th Semester won 2nd Prize in Inter-collegiate Essay Competition held in JSS SMI UG & PG Studies Dharwad. 5. Bhagyashree Nandhalli of B.Com 2nd Sem won 1st Prize in intercollegiate singing competition held in SJMVS Womens’ College Hubballi. 6. Anupamma Sanglikar of B.Com 4th Sem won 1st Prize in Essay competition held in Jain College Hubballi. 7. Our B.Com department students won Runners- Up Trophy in ‘’PRAYUKTI-2020’’ held in JSS COLLEGE, Dharwad by winning 1st prize in Spot Photography, 2nd prize in Dance Competition, 1st prize in Bid Pinnacle. 3.] Staff Acheivements: 1. Shri. Shrikant H.Ragikallapur,Head of Department,B.Com Department, was invited as a Chief- Guest on Teachers’ Day at Global Business School , Hubli. 2. Dr.Shivanand Tawali compiled a poem “MALLIGEYA MAALE” and also edited Research Articles “PUNAR-NAVA” PART-1 and PART-2. 4.] Induction and Other Development Programme: 1. Induction program for the first year students was conducted by Arjun Devayya. 2. Smt .Sadhana, K.A.S., Director Employment Exchange ,North Karnataka, visited college to create awareness about Mega Recruitment Rally by Indian Air-Force at Nehru Stadium ,Shivamoga and addressed all B.Com students. 3. A talk on Enhancement of Memory Power by Mr.Pradeep Acharya . 4. A talk on Entrepreneurship Development by “BADA BUSINESS” Franchise holder in Hubli Mr.Hanu Dasar. 5. A Leporsy Eradication Programme was organized by District Health and Family Planning Association, Dharwad. 6. A talk on an Importance of Voting in India was organized on Voters Day. Department Report for 2018-19 The Department of B.com was established in the year 2013 with a strength of 101 students and currently the strength is 700. The results for the academic year 2018-19 is tremendous with a passing percentage of B.com 1st Semester – 86%, B.com 3rd Semester – 83% , B.com 5th Semester -94%. The academic year 2018-19 commenced on June 18, 2018 with an orientation programme conducted for B.com 1st Semester students by Shri Arjun Devaiah for two days. On 11-07-2018, Swami Krupamayananda visited our college and delivered special lecture B.com students on ‘Health and Happiness through Yoga’. On 19-01-2019, a special event ‘Commerce Exhibition’ was conducted in our department where nearly 100 models were exhibited on various commerce topics by our students. Nearly 3000 students visited and witnessed the event from various institutions. On 27-02-2019, a special technical session was conducted for Department students and Guest Lecture was delivered by Mr. Vishwanath Bhat on ‘Indian Economy and its developments’. Our department faculties have achieved to the great heights in their own fields for the academic year 2018-19: - Shri . Shrikant Ragikallapur has published an article in International Journal of Research in Commerce and Management on the topic – ‘Impact of Demonetization on Hotel industries in India’. - Mr. Shreesh Ballary cleared ‘National Eligibility Test’(NET) in Commerce in January 2019. - Mr. Maltesh Aralikatti visited as resource person to Vidyaranya College for 2nd PUC students and delivered a lecture on Two-sector model. - Dr. Ronil Manohar has presented a paper in International Conference held in Mumbai University in October 2018. - Dr. Shivanand Tavali was awarded with Ph.D by Kannada University, Hampi under the guidance of Dr. Jinadatt Hadagli Students achievement : B.com 2nd Semester: - Miss. Kalpavruksha Mugalihal has participated in ‘Speak for India’ event conducted by Vijay Karnataka and Federal Bank and was selected for Zonal level. - Miss. Keerti Benakannavar cleared the Chartered Accountant’s Foundation Exam. - Miss. Swati Benni has cleared the Chartered Accountant’s Foundation Exam. - Miss. Vaishnavi Hiremath performed Bharatnatya at the Kannada Sahitya Sammelan and at the Siddharoodha Math, Hubbali on the occasion of Shivaratri celebration. B.com 4th Semester: - Mr. Naveen Kubihal appeared as guest for ‘Arts Exhibition’ conducted in JSS CBSE School. B.com 6th semester: - Miss. Kavya Angadi has received the appreciation award for the year 2018-19 for publishing two articles in Deccan Herald and also bagged 2nd prize in State Level Essay competition – 2019 conducted by JSS SMI UG and PG studies and also recently published an article about the college – ‘Institution where dreams come true’ - Miss. Apeksha Tirlapur secured 3rd place in state level Essay competition and has also been selected for Infosys in Pooled Campus organized by J G College of Commerce, Hubballli. - Mr. Nagaraj S G participated in District level Youth Competition. - Miss. Neha Konapur and Mr. Venkoba Kamplikar participated in National level Essay competition and was shortlisted for Merit level conducted by Shri Ramakrishna Misson. -Miss. Poornima participated in National level Essay competition and secured 7th place at state level. - Miss. Swati Joshi participated in Taluk Level Kannada Sahitya Sammelana and sung Folk songs. - Miss. Srushti Kulkarni participated in dance programme conducted across the country in Bhuvaneshwar, Odissa, Alllahabad. Academic year 2015-16 for UG courses was started on 1st July 2015. 2.] Number of Admission [2015-2016]: First /Second Semester – 231 students Third /Fourth Semester – 185 students Fifth/Sixth Semester – 92 students 3.] Students’ Acheivement: Mr.Sunil Hegde of sixth semester B.Com won the first prize in Cavalcade Fest for Vittapaddhati Event conducted by Jain College for the year 2015-16. Miss.Shambhavi of sixth semester B.Com won second prize in rangoli in youth fest 2015- 16 conducted by JG College of Commerce ,Hubli. Mr.Amit Salunke of Fourth semester B.Com won First prize in Photography event conducted by BBA department in year 2015-16 and also First Prize KOMBAT Fest conducted by NGO expression in 2015-16. Mr.Prateek Sajjan of fourth semester B.com got first prize in Inter zonal university level for western solo singing and also got first prize in singing for the event SARGAME-AZADI Conducted by KLE College , BBA and was also selected as Voice of Bangalore for 2015- 16. Mr.Vinay Patil of fourth semester B.Com got third prize in classical instrumental solo in Youth Fest 2015-16 conducted by JG College Hubli. Mr.Aniket Pujari of Second Semester got third prize in classical solo at university level in youth fest 2015-16. Miss.Savani Gurav and Bhavana of Second semester B.com secured third prize in Food Fiesta conducted by BBA department in 2015-16. Miss.Anushri and Miss. Akshata of second semester B.Com secured consolation Prize for cook without Fire conducted by ladies association Mr.Kartik Badiger of Second Semester B.Com got third prize in youth fest conducted by JG College ,Hubli. Mr.Basavraj Bedsur of Second semester B.Com got third prize in painting in youth fest 2015-16 conducted by JG College , Hubli. Miss.Savani Gurav and Bhavana of Second semester B.Com secured consolation prize for cook without fire conducted by ladies association 2015-16. Miss.Soudamani Desai and Miss.Poorvi Dixit of Second Semester B.Com secured consolation prize for Best Theme in Food Fiesta conducted by BBA department. Miss.Shivani and Miss.Priyanka S of Second Semester B.Com got first prize in cook without fire conducted by ladies association . Miss.Poojita Hegade and Miss.Paravati H of fourth semester B.Com got second prize in Food Fiesta conducted by BBA department. Priyanka Joshi “Bharat-Natyam” dancer has represented and participated in various events throughout Karnataka State Miss.Bharati of Sixth Semester B.Com has maintained 100% Attendance from B.Com First semester to Sixth Semester Classes. 4.] Staff Acheivement: Shri.Shrikant H.Ragikallapur,Head of Department,B.Com Department,was invited as a resource person for a special talk on “Modern Teaching Skills in Effective Manner” for the faculties of OM college,Dharwad and thereby he was also a Chief Guest for the inaugural function of cultural events of college. Shri. Ronil K.Manohar, Staff Member, B.Com Department, published research papers entitled : “Concept and Techniques of Asset-Liability Management-An Indian Perspective.” in the International peer reviewed journal –International Journal in Management and Social Science. “Management of Non Performing Assets in Indian banks-A concept and diagnostic approach” in the International peer reviewed journal –International Journal in Management and Social Science. 5.] Seminars and Workshops Conducted: Induction program for the first year students was conducted on 2nd,3rd,and 4th July 2015 by Arjun Devayya. Special lecture on Banking was conducted by Dr. Badbatti and Mr.Palbhavi. Participated in National Voters day organised in Utsav hall on 25/01/2016. Participated in Baal Nandan Award Function at DVHIMSR on 08/01/2015. Participated in National Snake day on 16th July at Utsav hall. A special Motivation programme was conducted on 29/01/2016 by Dr.Guru Dakshin. 6] Special Lectures,Conference,Seminars Workshops Attended and Paper Presented: Shri.Shrikant H.Ragikallapur,HOD,has attended one day UGC sponsored National seminar on “Financial Sector Reforms in India” and presented paper on “Financial Reforms in India” held on January 22nd 2016 ,at C.S.I.

The team, while confident about the urban setting, was unsure about the applicability in rural setting. This was made even more important given most of the children in government schools reside in a rural setting. In partnership with Deshpande Foundation, we initiated a project in small town of Hubli which for the first time, allowed us to test out our interventions in a very different setting. What started as a small project, soon became a district-wide project impacting 99 schools and is now set to be replicated in other parts of Karnataka.
