Ash Wednesday is February 17, 2021

6:30 a.m. Liturgy of the Word/Ashes 8:45 a.m. Mass/Ashes 12:15 p.m. Liturgy of the Word/Ashes 4:30 p.m. Liturgy of the Word/Ashes 7:00 p.m. Mass/Ashes

In response to the ongoing pandemic, the Congregaon for Divine Worship has adapted the rite for Ash Wednesday 2021: During the Mass or Service, the Priest or Deacon who is presiding says the prayer for blessing the ashes. He sprinkles the ashes with holy water. Then he addresses all those present and only once says the formula, applying it to all in general: “Repent, and believe in the Gospel”, or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”. The Priest or Deacon then cleanses his hands, puts on a face mask and distributes the ashes to those present. The Priest or Deacon takes the ashes and sprinkles them on the top of the head of each one, without saying anything. Page 4 The La Salette News, Berkley

ORDER OF MASS The Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31, 2021

Prelude ““Prelude (pour Madame) on ‘New Britain’” ...... George Hamilton Entrance Hymn “All Creatures of Our God and King” 611 ...... ǍǂǔǔǕ ǖǏǔ džǓLJǓǖdžǏ Those watching the Mass from home are invited to sing with the Cantors. Greeting Priest: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. People: And with your spirit. Penitential Act Deacon: Lord Jesus, you came to reconcile us to one another and to the Father: People: Lord, have mercy. Deacon : Lord Jesus, you heal the wounds of sin and division: People: Christ, have mercy. Deacon: Lord Jesus, you intercede for us with your Father. People: Lord, have mercy. Gloria “Congregational Mass” 322 (10:30 a.m.) Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen. First Reading DEUTERONOMY 18:15-20 Moses spoke to all the people, saying: “A prophet like me will the LORD, your God, raise up for you from among your own kin; to him you shall listen. This is exactly what you requested of the LORD, your God, at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let us not again hear the voice of the LORD, our God, nor see this great fire any more, lest we die.’ And the LORD said to me, ‘This was well said. I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their kin, and will put my words into his mouth; he shall tell them all that I command him. Whoever will not listen to my words which he speaks in my name, I myself will make him answer for it. But if a prophet presumes to speak in my name an oracle that I have not commanded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, he shall die.’” Psalm PSALM 95:1-2, 6-7, 7-9 / 1102 The La Salette News, Berkley Page 5

Second Reading 1CORINTHIANS 7:32-35 Brothers and sisters: I should like you to be free of anxieties. An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided. An unmarried woman or a virgin is anxious about the things of the Lord, so that she may be holy in both body and spirit. A married woman, on the other hand, is anxious about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. I am telling you this for your own benefit, not to impose a restraint upon you, but for the sake of propriety and adherence to the Lord without distraction. Gospel Acclamation ...... DŽljǂǏǕ ǎǐDždž ǗNJNJNJ Alleluia. The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light, on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death light has arisen. Alleluia. —-Matthew 4: 16

Gospel MARK 1:21-28 Then they came to Capernaum, and on the sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and taught. The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes. In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit; he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!” The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him. All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.” His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee. Profession of Faith — The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, At the words that follow, up to and including the Virgin Mary, all bow. who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy , the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen. Universal Prayer
