This talk describes the successfully productization of the state-of-the-art statistical machine learning technology to create LiveMove and LiveCombat. LiveMove is a groundbreaking artificial intelligence product that enables the Wii Remote to learn. Instead of complicated programming, developers need only take a few minutes to train Wii controllers through examples. Nintendo now sublicenses and promotes LiveMove to Wii developers around the world. Our other product, LiveCombat, gives developers and players the power to build AI characters that learn how to behave by observing the actions of human players. AI characters learn in seconds to be trusted companions or deadly foes. The talk will include many anecdotes and observations from lessons learned (often the hard way) along the way. Wolff Daniel Dobson received his PhD in computer science from Northwestern University, specializing in artificial intelligence and intelligent user interfaces. At Visual Concepts Entertainment, he constructed emotional behavior on NBA2K for Dreamcast, and then became colead for artificial intelligence on NBA2K1 (garnering a Metacritic.com score of 93). For the past 5 years he has worked for AiLive Inc., a startup devoted to next-generation artificial intelligence in games. Working as a designer, producer, engineer, and artist Wolff has been instrumental in developing two commercial products, LiveMove and LiveCombat, that bring groundbreaking real-time machine learning technology to the computer entertainment industry.

A Whole Different Ball Game: Playing Through 60 Years of Sports Video Games

EXHIBITION OVERVIEW A Whole Different Ball Game: Playing through 60 Years of Sports Video Games Exhibition dates: September 14, 2018–March 10, 2019 Location: Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria (Queens), NY 11106 Summary: Ever since the first video game, Tennis for Two, debuted at the Brookhaven National Laboratory’s public exhibition in 1958, video games have sought to recreate, adapt, and build upon the games Americans most regularly encounter: sports. A Whole Different Ball Game presents a selection of 44 playable sports video games spanning the last six decades, examining the complex relationships between game, sport, media, and culture. The exhibition considers what it means for full-body sports to be transposed to screens and controllers in the service of realism, who is or is not represented in sports video games, the ways broadcast sports and video games reflect one another, and the primacy of statistics in professional sports and sports simulators. Contents: The exhibition is organized in seven sections (see below for details and game list) plus a new video installation, an interactive experience, and a video screening area with bleachers. There are 44 playable games, including hand-held devices, arcade games, console and PC games played on monitors and wall projections. Additional games that are not playable are included for historical context. In addition, there is video content in the exhibition for documentation of game play and comparison to televised sports. Curators: Curator of Digital Media Jason Eppink and John Sharp (Associate Professor in the School of Art, Media, and Technology at Parsons School of Design at The New School).

It's only the second year for this franchise, but keep in mind that it's made great strides. The punches thump and thud appropriately and they guys grunt and whimper when those punches do land. Knockout Kings sacrifices too much strategy for the sake of keeping the action hot. Vargas chopped down a slid, hard- nosed veteran to claim the title. Tricia Gugler: Welcome to our first quarter fiscal 2009 earnings call. Today on the call we have John Riccitiello, our Chief Executive Officer; Eric Brown, our Chief Financial Officer; John Pleasants, our Chief Operating Officer; and Peter Moore, our President of EA SPORTS. Before we begin, I’d like to remind you that you may find copies of our SEC filings, our earnings release and a replay of this webcast on our web site at investor.ea.com. Shortly after the call we will post a copy of our prepared remarks on our website. Throughout this call we will present both GAAP and non-GAAP financial measures. Non-GAAP measures exclude the following items: • amortization of intangibles, • stock-based compensation, • acquired in-process technology, • restructuring charges, • certain litigation expenses, • losses on strategic investments, • the impact of the change in deferred net revenue related to certain packaged goods and digital content. In addition, starting with its fiscal 2009 results, the Company began to apply a fixed, long-term projected tax rate of 28% to determine its non-GAAP results. Prior to fiscal 2009, the Company’s non-GAAP financial results were determined by excluding the specific income tax effects associated with the non-GAAP items and the impact of certain one-time income tax adjustments. Our earnings release provides a reconciliation of our GAAP to non-GAAP measures. These non-GAAP measures are not intended to be considered in isolation from – a substitute for – or superior to – our GAAP results – and we encourage investors to consider all measures before making an investment decision.
