CENTENARY CONCERTS AT THE BASILICA, CENTENARY ORGAN RECITAL: PROFESSOR WOLFGANG CHAPEK Friday 31 August, 7.30pm Basilica of Our Lady of Victories, 548 Burke Road, Camberwell Camberwell’s iconic Our Lady of Victories Basilica this year celebrates the centenary of its opening in October 1918. One of Melbourne’s ecclesiastical and architectural gems, the Basilica was dedicated in honour of the fallen of the Great War (1914–1918). Professor Wolfgang Chapek is Professor of Organ at the University of Music in Vienna, Austria and one of Europe’s leading organists and pedagogues. He is Principal Organist of the famous Augustine Church in Vienna, and a virtuoso concert career has seen him perform across Europe, Asia and North America. Victorian-born and educated, Mary Glowrey felt called by God to medical missionary work in India. She left Melbourne in 1920 aged 32, joined a Dutch religious order in India and served there as a medical missionary for 37 years. The museum gives a full photographic and interactive overview of Mary’s life. Individuals and groups very welcome. For groups of five or more, a tour and presentation may easily be arranged. YOUTH MINISTRY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM 2019 Applications for the 2019 Youth Ministry Partnership Program are now open. The program links parishes seeking to establish youth ministry in their community with a youth minister. The Archdiocesan Office for Youth works with the parish to develop their youth ministry vision and provides ongoing support and training to the youth minister and the parish for the 14-month duration of the program.
