Morris’s life and legacy The exhibition explores the group’s key figures—Arthur through the world’s Heygate Mackmurdo, Selwyn Image and Herbert Horne— most comprehensive along with its influence on Art Nouveau, 20th-century design collection of his work and modern publishing. Distant Fellowship: Morris and South Asia, by former artists-in-residence Priya Sundram and Nia Thandapani, explores and develops connections between William Morris and South Asia. The artists collaborated with Tharangini—Bangalore’s oldest hand block printing studio—to create a stunning furnishing fabric, which has been used to create a domestic-style space in the Gallery. The first, at 317 Hoe Street, has created 16 properties to rent for those in need of affordable housing in Waltham Forest.
