When you arrive at an airport in Tokyo or Osaka:
1. Exchange money at a bank in Tokyo or Osaka airport (find out if the bank is still open when you arrive). Any credit card can NOT be used to purchase train or bus ticket. It can be used only for a long distance travel. 2. Go to bathroom before getting on the bus in Osaka. 3. Go outside the terminal. Buy a ticket to Kyoto Station (Kyoto Sta.) from a vending machine located outside the terminal. The destination can be also called as Kyoto Hachijo guchi (京都 八条口) or Hachijyo Higashi (八条東).

The bus stops/terminals at Kyoto Hachijo guchi is right in front of Haotel Keihan and Avanti shopping mall. El Inn is the dark brown building across from Hotel Kihan. The first floor of the El Inn is a restaurant (used to be Gasuto but it is now the part of the El Inn). Go across the road to get to the front door. The door closest to the road crossing traffic light is the entrance to the restaurant so walk another 20 feet or so to get to the front of the hotel.

The end of the road is the Kyoto Station. You can see the white Shinkansen (bullet) train in the middle of the photo. Hotel is Keihan is the big light-brown building on the left and the El Inn is the dark-brown building on the right. The bus terminal is behind the Hotel Keihan, which is in front of the Kyoto Station (Hachijo guchi exit). Hachijo guchi is the old exit in the south. The fancy exit is the
new building (the Kyoto station in a photo is the new side.)

Look at the second map near to the bottom for 八条口 and 大空(Oosaka Kuukou) on the map in front of the アバンティ ホテル京阪 (Avanty and Hotel Keihan). It does not have any number or a letter but kanji 大空.
