Certificate programs are designed for adults seeking in-depth knowledge in a specialized field but not Ciara Snowden requiring academic credit. General Industry Courses

OSHA 511 Occupational Safety & Health Standards for General Industry This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry which are most hazardous. Upon course completion, students OSHA 511 will have the ability to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General $750 26 hrs. Industry Standards, identify hazards which occur in general industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and February 12-15, 2019 (Richmond) regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program. March 26-29, 2019 (Louisville) June 4-7, 2019 (Richmond) OSHA 501 Trainer Course for General Industry This course is designed for individuals interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour general industry safety and health Outreach training program to their employees and other interested groups. Using the OSHA General Industry Standards as a guide, special emphasis is placed on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as those which are most hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. This OSHA 501 course allows the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training $750 26 hrs. Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour General Industry Outreach classes, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Students who wish to participate as authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training January 8-11, 2019 (Louisville) Program must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry April 2-5, 2019 (Louisville) Outreach Training Program topic and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course. * You must call to register for trainer classes, 859-622-2961 April 30-May 3, 2019 (Richmond) Prerequisites: OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry and five (5) years of safety and health work experience in general industry.

OSHA 503 Update for General Industry Outreach Trainers This course is designed for Outreach Training Program trainers who have OSHA 503 completed the #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards $650 18 hrs. for General Industry and who are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program. The course provides an update on OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and regulations. Upon course completion, students will have January 22-24, 2019 (Louisville) the ability to demonstrate continued professional development in their field by April 24-26, 2019 (Richmond) applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define, and explain general industry hazards and acceptable June 25-27, 2019 (Louisville) corrective measures as they continue to teach the 10- and 30- hour General Industry Outreach Training Program classes. * You must call to register for trainer classes, 859-622-2961 Prerequisites: OSHA 501

Cohort #1 March 5 (4pm—5pm) Orientation March 19, 26, 28 April 2, 4, 9, 11, 16 18, 23, 25, 30 May 1, 2, 7 New Program Offered by Eastern Kentucky University at the Manchester Campus May 8 (Make-up class date) May 9 (SRNA Exam Practice) SRNA Training Program Clinical Dates—April 27 & May 4 (Time TBD) The State Registered Nurse Aide Program at Exam Date—May 10 Eastern Kentucky University is Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services approved. The curriculum covers 59 hours of Cohort #2 classroom instruction and an additional 16 May 13 (4pm—5pm) Orientation hours of clinical practice. Cohort #1—Classes May 20, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. June 3, 4, 5, 6, 11 to 9 p.m. Cohort #2—Classes are held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 12 (Make-up class date) Class is limited to 15 students on a June 13 (SRNA Exam Practice) first-come, first-served basis. Clinical Dates—June 1 and June 8 (Time TBD) Tuition— $600 (must be paid at orientation) Exam Date—June 14 After you successfully complete the training program and pass the State exam, your skills will always be in demand. As a State Registered Nurse Aide, you will be an important part of today’s health care system. Your responsibilities will include giving basic and personal care to patients and/or residents. Nursing assistants can work in a variety of settings including hospitals, assisted living facilities long-term care facilities, and home health care agencies.

“First Line Supervision Certificate Program”

Now that you’re a supervisor, you have most likely developed the technical skills required in your field. Your continued success now depends upon the ability to get things accomplished through others. EKU’s supervision program helps develop your interpersonal skills or “people skills” area. The programs are designed to offer a bridge between technical skills and supervising others EKU Richmond Campus to increase overall company performance. “Basic Supervision Certificate” The First Line Supervision Program begins with an 18-hour seminar (3 one-day classes), Basic Core Concepts I. Participants then select an additional 18 hours All Classes are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (3 days) of elective seminars—6 hours of which may be computer classes. This completes the Basic Supervision Certificate for a total of 36 hours. Basic Core Our seminars can be taken as part of Concepts I is required to receive the Basic Supervision Certificate. the Certificate program or as an individual professional development topic. “Advanced Supervision Certificate” Course Tuition (includes materials) Advanced Supervision is the second phase of the program and consists of  3 Day Seminar $450 another 18-hour seminar (3 one-day classes), Advanced Core Concepts II. Participants then select an additional 18 hours (3 days) of elective seminars—6  2 Day Seminar $350 hours of which may be computer classes– for a total of 36 hours of training. This completes the Advanced Supervision Certificate. Advanced Core Concepts  1 Day Seminar $250 II is required to receive the Advanced Supervision Certificate.

Chief of Operations for the Bluegrass Army Depot. He has taught OSHA training at EKU since 2011 and holds a Bachelors in Fire & Safety .  Business Writing Improve your written communication skills. Instructor Lisa Oakes currently serves as an adjunct instructor for EKU. Lisa holds a Bachelors Degree from Southern Illinois University as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Business Education from EKU.  Coaching & Workplace Communication Assess employees’ development needs and respond with appropriate leadership style. Zella holds a Bachelors Degree from the as well as a Masters in Education from EKU.  Conflict Management Use communication skills to defuse conflict and solve problems.
