In the first quarter the Royals drew first blood with Skip Cook and Barton leading the way with their fine ball handling and back- board work. Playing a six minutes quarter the Celtics, led by Smith and Craft, commanded a 6-5 lead at the half. Going into the top of the third quarter, young Pete Barton and "Specs" Brassfield, combining their talents, time and again stole the ball from the Celtics to widen the lead. But with a few minutes left in the third, the Celtics caught fire to make the score 9-8 Royals. The last period saw a complete change of pace when the Royals held the Celtics to one point and gained their first victory of the season by a score of 15-9. For the Junior League's first game quarters were limited to 6 minutes. Future games will be longer and correspondingly higher scoring. 40

Dirigible Damaged At McCalla Field

A six million dollar Navy dirigi- Hle operating out of Lakehurst, N. J., was damaged Tuesday at McCalla Field during an attempted landing. None of the 17 persons aboard was injured. About 1300, Tuesday, the airship made two passes over the airfield, but air currents prevented it from landing. On the third attempt, the ship fell hard on the runway. Resulting damages included de- struction of the propellers, the radome and the main landing gear. NAS sounded an alert. Approximately 150 men re- sponded. They grasped the control lines hanging from the ZPG and brought the airship to rest on the landing masks at the end of McCalla Field. Before the dirigible came under control, it was moving in the direc- tion of the Fuel Farm. 0 ZPG-2 has been in the Guantan- amo Bay area since February 1 on operational training. At the time of the accident, it was returning from submarine search training.

by Jim French How lucky can a guy get? This question has been kicked around every since George W. Young, attached to Leeward Point, won the beautiful 1958 Ford Deluxe Retractable Hardtop last Sunday night closing out the successful 1958 Guantanamo Bay Carnival. As for an answer, well, not even George can tell us that and February 9th will always be a red letter day in his naval career, not necessarily due to winning first prize but the many other prizes he had won during the day. Just by coincidence, the INDIAN news photographer snapped .iy. a photo of George at the Puncha- winna booth earlier in the evening where he had won a shotgun, clock - radio, table lamp, camera outfit, perfume, an electric fryer, and a few other small gifts. And the question remains: How lucky can can a guy get?

* Young, who lives with his happy wife in a Navy Exchange trailer, said he had left the carnival grounds about 9 o'clock and return- ed home a wee bit exhausted. "We were home only a few minutes," George said, "when one of my neighbors came over for a talk session." "We had coffee and re- counted the prizes we all had won. About 10, my neighbor, Mr. Heath- man, departed. Then, I can't re- member the exact time, but I guess it was around 10:15 when George Rounds, who lives right next door, rushed into the house shouting, "Yon won, you won the car!" "My wife, Joan, was quite ex- cited. I can't remember what she said but she was sure excited. Then I heard the announcement over WGBY Radio and I ran across the street to Heathman's trailer to ask him to come along with me and Rounds to the carnival. He was just getting ready for bed, but dressed and came with us.

"The officials were all there and I showed them my winning ticket. Somebody took some pictures of me receiving the key to the car and a man from the radio station interviewed me on a tape recorder."

When asked what he intended to do with his other car he replied he would keep both for awhile, at least until he gets his breath back. After leaving the INDIAN office he was seen heading in the direction of the Legal Office where he was to sign the bill of sales and take delivery of his newly-won pos- session.
