introduction to our list

Welcome! The program at black & blue has been designed to make the most of your experience by providing the best value in an array of styles, brands and price, so don’t worry if you are unfamiliar with many of the producers. That said, we also wanted to incorporate many big names and known producers as well as up and coming regions and the latest wine trends, this way you have the opportunity to have your favorite bottle or try something you just read about.

The list itself is categorized by TYPE of wine with Sparkling and White listed in the front and Red Wines listed in the back. The list is then categorized by VARIETAL, or “type” of grape, which is also sorted from LIGHT to FULL-bodied throughout the list. Additionally, in the very front are some featured wines BY-THE-GLASS. We have a wonderful Coravin system that makes it possible to have wines available to try by the glass that usually are only available by the bottle.

To try one of the staff’s recommendations, look for wines in the list that have a “b&b favorite” designation in bold. Each of these wines has been hand-selected specifically with approachability in mind and is accompanied by a profile, or description, of the characteristics of the wine itself.

The core philosophy of our restaurant is that wine is simply an extension of the meal enhancing your experience with us. There aren’t any wrong choices when it comes to wine, just some that are more to your personal taste. Because of this belief, our whole team is prepared to answer questions and assist in choosing the right wine for you.

Sincerely,

The black & blue team

1 wine by the glass features

2015 Domaine Serge Laloue ,

This operated by the brother and sister team who continue to perpetuate the work originally undertaken by their father, Serge, in the 1960’s. The estate consists of 21 hectares of vines, essentially located in the commune of , 5 kilometers from the town of Sancerre. The in this region favors early ripening of the grapes. These soft wines are enjoyable even in their youth.

Pair with Lobster / Oysters on the half shell

2015 Herman J. Weimer Dry , Seneca Lake

This is optimally situated in the heart of the Finger Lakes, on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. With plantings extending to the shoreline, the micro-climate mitigates the challenges faced by growers in the region. Fresh citrus on the nose evolves into yellow apple on the palate. The elegant mouth feel is balanced perfectly with bright acidity, while the finish is framed with a touch of minerality.

Pair with Black Grouper / Red Snapper

2014 Jordan , Sonoma Valley

From the Russian River Valley, this iconic Chardonnay displays enticing aromas of pear, kiwi and lychee. The palate is round, creamy and refined, with layers of lemon curd, bright acidity and a kiss of caramel from barrel aging. A juicy, succulent wine that leaves a lasting impression of fresh Meyer lemon and stone fruits on the crisp finish.

Pair with Salmon / Filet Oscar

2016 Miraval Rosè de Provence,

The product of a partnership between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie with the Perrin family of Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, this rose’s “celebrity status” isn’t the only thing going for it. Lovely pale pink in color, the wine exhibits aromas of citrus, red fruits, and white flowers. A balanced and elegant palette of crisp fruit gives way to a lingering floral finish with a touch of salinity.

Pair with Seafood Platter / Scallop entrée

2013 Merry Edwards , Russian River Valley

This Pinot Noir reflects the personality of Russian River Valley in bold style. The jewel-toned rich, ruby color portends an aroma that is revealed as fresh and appealing. Dark blue plum, red currant, hedgerow fruit and raspberry coulis come forward first. Deeper layers reveal hints of fragrant earth, warm brown spices and cocoa.

Pair with Salmon / Roasted Chicken

2 2012 Cantos de Valpiedra , Spain

This wine has an intense aroma combining ripe sloes and black fruit with a mineral lift and cigar box/vanilla notes from the . Cantos de Valpiedra Rioja has silky-textured and fresh in the mouth, with ample fruit fleshing out the supple structure. Finca Valpiedra is located in the best area of the DOCa Rioja, on a spectacular meander of the river Ebro, and is the only Rioja among the Grandes Pagos de Espana.

Pair with Roasted Chicken / Lamb Chops.

2015 Massolino d’Alba, Piedmont

Thanks to the meticulous selection processes, excellent exposure and very low yields, very high quality grapes are obtained, giving complexity to this wine. This wine produces the typical characteristics of traditional Barbera: intriguing freshness, good body and a long finish. This is an easy to drink wine which is tasty and rich without being excessively binding.

Pair with Lamb Chops / Braised Short Ribs.

2011 Château d’Escurac Médoc, Bordeaux

With an 11th century chapel on its property, Chateau d’Escurac has been a notable producer since it’s wines were first mentioned as “amongst the Medoc fifth growths” in 1839. Passing through a variety of owners until it reahed the Landureau family in 1934, the propertry is currently owned and attended to by Jean-Marc, the grandson of the original Landureau, who also owns Chateau Haut Myles, a second estate down the road.

Pair with Bone-in Kansas City Strip

2012 Joya Cabernet, Napa Valley

Originally from Western New York Russel Joy attended St. Bonaventure University prior to entering the wine industry. Russ comes from a multigenerational family. This tradition was carried on by Russ’s father who farms grapes to this day, and by Russ who founded this small label in 1993. In addition to his experience as a vintner and winemaker, Russ is the President of and General Manager of Patz & Hall Wine Company.

Pair with Wagyu Meatballs / Filet Oscar

2014 Cade ‘Howell Mountain’ Cabernet, Napa Valley

The Cade Estate is Napa Valley’s first LEED Gold Certified Estate Winery, and was designed to complement the land and the organic farming practices in the . Howell Mountain rises above the Napa Valley floor fog line, exposing the grapes to greater temperature shifts and more sunlight. This yields a powerfully complex wine that is also approachable and balanced enough to enjoy with a great meal.
