Enjoy and experience the beauty, culture and history of Peru. Begin your journey in the ancient city of Lima, then fly to and explore colonial style churches, ancient Inca culture, temples and the amazing . Travel by bus to Puno, stopping along the way in Andahuaylillas, Racchi and . While in Puno, located on Lake Titicaca, visit the floating islands of the Uro people, an ancestral society that inhabits a series of artificial islands built with totora, a reed that grows in the lake. Visit , a pre-Incan cemetery on the shores of Lake Umayo. Board a plane back to Lima and further explore the city visiting the Barranco and Miraflores districts, the Museo de Osma, the Mario Testino Art Gallery and Larcomar.

DAY 2 – Saturday, Oct. 7 - ARRIVE LIMA (B L) Breakfast at the hotel, then begin touring downtown Lima, where you will visit the Main Square, where Lima was first founded as "The City of Kings," in 1535. See the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop's Palace and the Cathedral of Lima. Visit the Aliaga House, Saint Francis' Church and Larco Museum. Lunch is included today at Cafe del Museo Larco. Return to the hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is free to explore Lima on your own. Overnight: Lima – Overnight: Habitat Hotel - Lima

DAY 3 – Sunday, Oct. 8 – LIMA/CUSCO/URUBAMBA (B L) Breakfast at your hotel, then head to the airport for your flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, begin your Sacred Valley tour. Visit the Pisac Market, which has countless products manufactured by the residents of the area. Beautiful alpaca textiles, musical instruments, paintings, carvings, necklaces and replicas of old Inca pieces stand out. You will continue to the Pisac archaeological vestiges, which as the largest complex of terraces in the area and a masterpiece of the agriculture of the . A buffet lunch is included today at a local restaurant. After lunch, continue to the studio of Pablo and Marilu Seminario – artisans who have devoted 20 years to the study of Pre-Colombian pottery techniques and designs, incorporating these ancient traditions into their own beautiful works. DAY 4 – Monday, Oct. 9 - URUBAMBA (B L) Breakfast at your hotel, then visit the archaeological vestiges of Maras and . Maras is an impressive salt mine complex. Moray's archaeological vestiges are composed of mysterious concentric circular terraces which, according to some scholars, would be an agricultural research center. A buffet lunch is included today at a local restaurant. Continue the trip to the Park, stopping at various points of interest along the route. Ollantaytambo is a typical example of the urban planning of the Incas, whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Return to the hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening on your own. Overnight: La Casona de Yucay Hotel - Urubamba

DAY 5 – Tuesday, Oct. 10 - URUBAMBA/MACHU PICCHU/CUSCO (B L) Breakfast at your hotel, then head to the Ollantaytambo train station. Your tour to Machu Picchu begins with a two hour Vistadome train ride to Aguas Calientes, also known as "Machu Picchu pueblo." Take a short bus ride up the mountain where you will reach Machu Picchu, a masterpiece of engineering and architecture that is believed served as a sanctuary and retreat for the Inca Pachacutec (1438 - 1572). Machu Picchu, which means "Old Mountain," is considered a World Heritage by UNESCO and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Lunch is included today at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. In the afternoon, board the shuttle bus back to Aguas Calientes to board the Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo. Check into your Cusco hotel and enjoy the remainder of the evening on your own. Overnight: Hotel Eco Inn - Cusco DAY 6 – Wednesday, Oct. 11 – CUSCO (B,D) Breakfast at your hotel, then visit , also known as the "Temple of the Sun." Go to the Cathedral, the most important building on the Main Square. Its construction lasted almost a century, it started in 1560 and ended in 1654. Visit the Sacsayhuamán fortress, an emblematic work of the Incas, which protected the Holy City. You will then go to Qenqo, an archaeological complex mainly used for religious purposes, and it is believed that agricultural rituals took place there. Finish the day with a visit the vestiges of , which means "red fortress," an architectural complex presumably used for military purposes. Return to the hotel. In the evening enjoy dinner and a show at Tunupa Restaurant on the main square of Cusco. DAY 7 – Thursday, Oct. 12 – CUSCO/PUNO (B L) Breakfast at the hotel, then board the motorcoach for your transfer to Puno. You’ll make three stops along the way. First visit Andahuaylillas, a village located 40 kilometers from Cusco, seeing its most important attraction, the church of Andahuaylillas, also called "The Sistine Chapel of America." Continue on to Racchi, where you will find the Temple of Viracocha. Stop for lunch in Sicuani. Then head to the town of Pukara, the first settlement of the highland lake city and developed between 100 and 300 BC. Then arrive in Puno. Enjoy dinner on your own. Overnight: Hotel Jose Antonio – Puno DAY 8 – Friday, Oct. 13 - PUNO (B L) Breakfast at your hotel, then head to the lake port and board a boat that will take you to the floating islands of the Uros. After a one and a half-hour tour, you will continue your trip to the Taquile Island. Unlike other islands, inhabited by Aymara-speaking people on the lake, its residents speak Quechua. They will give you a brief presentation about the island and you will tour it until lunch time. After having lunch, you will walk to the main pier to return to Puno's port. DAY 9 – Saturday, Oct. 14 (B L) Breakfast at the hotel, then head to Sillustani, a pre-Incan cemetery on the shores of Lake Umayo near Puno. More than 90 , huge and primitive stone mausoleums, housed the remains of entire families. After your visit, you will be transferred to the Juliaca airport for your flight to Lima. Upon arrival, board your motorcoach and visit the Museo de Osma where you will see a wide collection of Peruvian colonial art. Then visit the Mario Testino Art Gallery (MATE), where the famous Peruvian photographer exhibits his world famous photographs. Afterwards, enjoy a panoramic view of the Barranco and Miraflores districts of Lima. Next you will be taken to Larcomar where you will have free time for shopping and dinner on your own. Later, at a coordinated time, meet your guide and transfer to the airport to board your international flight for your overnight flight home.

Day 10 – Sunday, Oct. 15 - HOME (B) Depart on a red-eye flight leaving Lima at approximately 1 a.m. Breakfast on board the flight before landing in Atlanta, then catch your connecting flight home. Your private motorcoach will meet you at the Kansas City airport to drive you to the Washburn campus. Welcome home.
