The Cathedral of Our Lady and Saint Philip Howard is the “Mother Church” of our diocese and the Church of our chief pastor, Richard. The cost of its upkeep is large for the small parish of Arundel to bear alone and so all in the diocese are asked to contribute to its maintenance and to the additional costs required to keep it as a valuable resource for the whole diocese. REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY: The observance of the traditional two minutes silence to remember those who died in the two World Wars of the 20th Century and the many other conflicts since will be around the War Memorial outside St Peter's Church on Sunday at 11.00am. It will be the culmination of the usual religious and civic processions and services in the Selsey. SUNDAY AFTERNOON TEA: Our parish will again be hosting the Sunday Afternoon Tea group – for a cream tea, friendship and entertainment – this Sunday afternoon from 3.00 to 4.30pm in the Parish Hall. Parishioners from our own community will be very welcome to join others from the wider community. Transport can be arranged. DECEASED CLERGY MASS: The annual November Mass offered by the priests and deacons from the parishes of the Cathedral Deanery for their predecessors will be at 11.00am on Tuesday at . All will be welcome to join them on Tuesday morning. Arundel and Brighton Diocesan Trust is Registered Charity No 252878 SOCIAL AND FUNDRAISING GROUP: The main item on the Agenda for the meeting on Tuesday will be finalising the plans for the parish Christmas Fair: all are welcome to come along with ideas and offers of help, especially if you have never been before. The Christmas Fair ranks alongside the Summer Fair as one of the most important fundraising events of the year. The meeting will be in the Parish Hall starting at 5.30pm. ARCHBISHOP RIP: The Memorial Mass for Bishop Michael – the second Bishop of our diocese before he was moved to become the Archbishop of Southwark – will be on Thursday at the Cathedral in Arundel at 7.30pm. May he rest in peace! FAITH IN ACTION: Our diocesan CAFOD Group is organising a day of reflection at St. John's Seminary, Wonersh with the title of “Our Faith & The Common Good.” The teaching of the Popes over the last 100 years, and of the Second Vatican Council, has much to say to world – particularly its promotion of “The Common Good – in helping humankind to cope with the problems of the climate; of the environment; of national and global politics; of the world's economic situation; and about much else besides The day will be from 10.00am to 4.00pm, including a soup-and-rolls lunch, on Saturday 23rd November.
