Walking routes

The starting point for both of these walks is Calstock station.

From the station, follow the signs down the hill onto the road. Take the first road to the right before you reach the centre of the village, signposted Cotehele.

Normal National Trust admission rates apply.

Route 1- (yellow) Calstock Station - Danescombe - Cotehele House - then back to the station. 1.18 miles there, 1.18 miles back = 2.36 miles (3.8km). This route is the shorter of the two, and takes you along the riverside road, past the impressive Danescombe House and up the hill to Cotehele, where you can explore the beautiful garden, visit the house or simply pop into the Barn Restaurant and have some lunch.

Route 2 (red) Calstock Station - Danescombe - Cotehele Quay - Cotehele Mill - Elbow Cottage - Cotehele House - then back to the station - 3.85 miles (6.2km). This route is a longer, more challenging walk and follows the same route until the path splits at the top of the hill. This walk goes via the beautiful Cotehele Quay and Mill. Refreshments are available at Cotehele Quay.
