Medan. 2020 The research with the types and function of taboo words in movie Bad Boys 2. The objectives of the research was to analyze the type and function of taboo words in movie Bad Boys 2. The data were analyzed by identifying types and function taboo words in movie Bad Boys 2 taken from the script of dialogues Bad Boys 2. This study used descriptive qualitative method. All taboo words consisted of ephitet, obscenity, vulgarity and profanity appeared in the movie. The four kinds of taboo words applied in movie Bad Boys 2 were the total words taboo in the movie were 32, ephitets were 7 (22%), propanity were 12 (37%), vulgarity were 5 (16%), and obscenity were 8 times (25%). The most dominant kinds of taboo words used in movie Bad Boys 2 were propanity with 12 (37%). There were four functions of taboo words applied in movie Bad Boys 2. The total function of taboo words were 32, to show contempt was 17 (53%), to draw attention to oneself was 8 appeared (25%), to be provocative was 5 appeared (16%) and to muck authority with 2 appeared (6%). -

Harvey* This Article focuses on the oft-neglected intersection of racially skewed outcomes and anti-competitive markets. Through historical, contextual, and empirical analysis, the Article describes the state of Hollywood motion-picture distributionfrom its anti- competitive beginnings through the industry's role in creating an anti-competitive, racially divided market at the end of the last century. The Article's evidence suggests that race-based inefficiencies have plagued the film distribution process and such inefficiencies might likely be caused by the anti-competitive structure of the market itself, and not merely by overt or intentional racial-discrimination.After explaining why traditional anti-discrimination laws are ineffective remedies for such inefficiencies, the Article asks whether antitrust remedies and market mechanisms mght provide more robust solutions. -

For the full text of this licence, please go to: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/ Rugby Union Men: Body Concerns by Natalie Darko Doctoral Thesis Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of PhD Doctoral Thesis of Loughborough University (July 2012) Natalie Darko 1 Abstract Existing research shows that increasing numbers of young men are dissatisfied with the appearance of their bodies. Drummond (2002a; 2005; 2010) has found that men will use sport and health-related sports acts to conceal these concerns from others. Accordingly, men’s body dissatisfactions are documented less frequently because the practices drawn upon to conceal them are perceived as routine forms of masculine behaviour. Rugby union is one of the most popular sports played by young men in England. Historically, the male rugby player is culturally perceived as strong, tough and unemotionally articulate. Existing research draws attention to health issues, such as performance stress and injury that arise through participation in this sport. Research also shows that rugby union players are likely to experience concerns about gaining weight, yet these are disguised within the requirements of training for the sport. Although, there are studies that examine the constitution of masculinities, the experience of pain and injury and career transitions among rugby union players there are no studies, as yet, that examine how rugby union men experience body concerns and manage these experiences through their sport. -

Tracey Emin1 With these words Tracey Emin deprived the art world of her estimation of her nearest contemporary and perhaps the most notorious artist associated with the young British art phenomenon. Frustrating her interviewer’s attempt to discuss Damien Hirst is of course entirely Emin’s prerogative; why should she be under any obligation to discuss the work of a rival artist in interview? Given the theme of this book, however, no such discursive dispensation can be entertained. Why Damien Hirst? What exactly is problematic about Hirst’s art? It is time to talk about Damien. An early installation When Logics Die (1991) provides a useful starting point for identifying the features of the Hirstean aesthetic. High-definition, post- mortem forensic photographs of a suicide victim, a road accident fatality and a head blown out by a point-blank shotgun discharge are mounted on aluminium above a clinical bench strewn with medical paraphernalia and biohazard material. Speaking to Gordon Burn in 1992, the artist explained that what intrigued him about these images was the incongruity they involve: an obscene content yet amenable to disinterested contemplation in the aesthetic mode as a ‘beautiful’ abstract form. ‘I think that’s what the interest is in. Not in actual corpses. I mean, they’re completely delicious, desirable images of completely undesirable, unacceptable things. They’re like cookery books.’2 Now remember what he’s talking about here. Sustained, speculative and clinically detached, Hirst’s preoccupation with the stigmata of decomposition, disease and mortal suffering may be considered to violate instinctive taboos forbidding pleasurable engagement with the spectacle of death. -

The Terminator By John Wills “The Terminator” is a cult time-travel story pitting hu- mans against machines. Authored and directed by James Cameron, the movie features Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn in leading roles. It launched Cameron as a major film di- rector, and, along with “Conan the Barbarian” (1982), established Schwarzenegger as a box office star. James Cameron directed his first movie “Xenogenesis” in 1978. A 12-minute long, $20,000 picture, “Xenogenesis” depicted a young man and woman trapped in a spaceship dominated by power- ful and hostile robots. It introduced what would be- come enduring Cameron themes: space exploration, machine sentience and epic scale. RIGHTS AS SIGNALS DANIEL A. FARBER* ABSTRACT Because rights operate as trumps over normal governmental interests, they have an inherent cost. Consequently, by entrenching protection for human rights, govern- ments can signal a willingness to give up power in the short term to obtain long- term benefits. Investors can infer from this that the government has a low discount rate and is less likely to pose a threat of expropriation. Similarly, when courts vig- orously enforce human rights, they dramatize their judicial independence, which is valuable to investors, who themselves may have no interest in human rights. Thus, human rights enforcement may help encourage investment and thereby indirectly foster economic growth. I. INTRODUCTION CAN developing countries afford human rights and the rule of law? Perhaps not, according to Richard Posner. Posner advises poorer countries against "creating a first-class judiciary or an extensive system of civil liberties."' Although he is by no means opposed to judicial independence and human rights, he argues that they should largely await economic growth.2 From this point of view, the dramatic recent expansion of constitutionalism is a bit perplexing, if not a mistake. Posner's argument can be challenged on several grounds. Although he minimizes the importance of an independent judiciary to development,' the current consensus among economists is apparently to the contrary.' Responses Valuing Modern Contract Scholarship Ian Ayrest I. INTRODUCTION Eric Posner has written a thoughtful and provocative indictment of the modem economic analysis of contracts. His essay makes two central claims1 about the failings of scholars "to produce an 'economic theory.' Specifically, Posner claims that the economic approach "does not explain the current system of contract law" and that it does not "provide a solid basis for criticizing and reforming contract law."2 In other words, Posner claims that modem scholarship fails as either a descriptive or a normative theory, in that it fails to give an account of what current law is or what efficient law should be. The descriptive criticism deserves only brief comment. Although he claims that modem scholarship has failed to achieve "what its proponents set out as the measure of success, ' 3 Posner sadly distorts reality by claiming that the leading scholars have been engaged in an attempt to use economic theory to predict the content of current legal rules. This is a straw man. Of course, decades ago this was the project of Richard Posner. 4 But the thought that efficiency analysis would provide a mechanism to predict the details of current doctrine is a serious misreading of the aims of modem scholarship. t William K.
