(Temporary Traffic Management) Order 2007

On 27 June 2007 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on carriageway resurfacing works) on the undernoted locations by reason of works being executed on or near those locations.

The Order will also make it unlawful for any person to carry out any of the manoeuvres detailed below at the undernoted locations, by reason of the works proposed to be executed on or near those locations.

Location 1 Burnhead Street, Viewpark from a point 15 metres northwest of the extended line of the western kerb of Elder Grove, southeastwards to a point 20 metres east of the extended line of the eastern kerb of Douglas Crescent.

Alternative routes: vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing to travel to the west side of the closure should proceed eastwards on Burnhead Street, northeastwards, northwards and northwestwards on Laburnum Road, southwestwards on Myrtle Road and southeastwards on Burnhead Road to the west side of the closure.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to travel to the east side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Location 2 Shields Road, Motherwell (Northbound Carriageway) from a point 10 metres northwest of the extended line of the western kerb of Muirhouse Drive southeastwards for a distance of 195 metres or thereby.

All right and left hand turn manoeuvres banned at Netherwood Road, Muirhouse Drive

No Right Turn Manoeuvres To and from Muirhouse Avenue (southern junction with Shields Road)

Southbound carriageway to operate contraflow

Alternative routes: vehicles on the southeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the northwest side of the closure should transfer to the southbound offside lane at Excelsior Street and continue northwestwards on the southbound carriageway returning to the northbound carriageway at Netherwood Road.

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to travel to Netherwood Road should continue northwestwards on Shields Road and northeastwards and southeastwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road to Netherwood Road.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to travel to Netherwood Road should proceed northeastwards and southeastwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road to Netherwood Road.

Vehicles on Netherwood Road wishing to travel northwestwards or southeastwards on Shields Road should proceed northeastwards on Netherwood Road and northwestwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue to Shields Road.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Drive should proceed southwestwards and southwards on Muirhouse Road and southeastwards on Barons Road to Muirhouse Drive.

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Drive should continue northwestwards on Shields Road, southwestwards and southwards on Muirhouse Road and southeastwards on Barons Road to Muirhouse Drive.

Vehicles on Muirhouse Drive wishing to travel southeastwards or northwestwards on Shields Road should proceed southwestwards on Muirhouse Drive, northwestwards on Barons Road and northwards and northeastwards on Muirhouse Road to Shields Road.

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Avenue via its southeastern junction with Shields Road should continue northwestwards on Shields Road and proceed northeastwards, southeastwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Avenue via its southern eastern junction with Shields Road should proceed northeastwards, southeastwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road.

Vehicles on Muirhouse Avenue wishing to access Shields Road via its southeastern junction with Shields Road should proceed northwestwards and southwestwards to Shields Road at its northwestern junction.

Location 3 Shields Road, Motherwell (Southbound Carriageway) from a point 10 metres northwest of the extended line of the western kerb of Muirhouse Avenue northwestwards for a distance of 245 metres or thereby.

Northbound carriageway to operate contraflow.

Alternative Routes:

Vehicles on the northwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the southeast side of the closure should transfer to the northbound offside lane at Muirhouse Road and continue southeastwards on the northbound carriageway returning to the southbound carriageway at Muirhouse Avenue.

All right and left hand turn manoeuvres banned at Netherwood Road, Muirhouse Drive and the southern junction of Muirhouse Avenue with Shields Road.

No Right Turn Manoeuvres To and from Muirhouse Road

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to travel to Netherwood Road should continue northwestwards on Shields Road and northeastwards and south eastwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road to Netherwood Road.

Vehicles on Netherwood Road wishing to travel to Shields Road should proceed northeastwards on Netherwood Road and northwestwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue to its northwestern junction with Shields Road..

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to travel to Muirhouse Drive should continue northwestwards on Shields Road, southwestwards, southeastwards and eastwards on Shields Drive, northwards on Muirhouse Road and southeastwards on Barons Road to Muirhouse Drive.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to travel to Muirhouse Drive should travel southwestwards, southeastwards and eastwards on Shields Drive, northwards on Muirhouse Road and southeastwards on Barons Road to Muirhouse Drive.

Vehicles on Muirhouse Drive wishing to travel to Shields Road should proceed southwestwards on Muirhouse Drive, northwestwards on Barons Road, southwards on Muirhouse Road and westwards, northwestwards and northeastwards on Shields Drive to Shields Road.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Avenue via its southeastern junction with Shields Road should proceed northeastwards, southeastwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road.

Vehicles travelling northwestwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Avenue at its southeastern junction with Shields Road should continue northwestwards on Shields Road and proceed northeastwards, southeastwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue at its northwestern junction with Shields Road.

Vehicles on Muirhouse Avenue wishing to access Shields Road via its southeastern junction with Shields Road should proceed northeastwards, northwestwards and southwestwards on Muirhouse Avenue to Shields Road at its northwestern junction.

Vehicles travelling southeastwards on Shields Road wishing to access Muirhouse Road should proceed southwestwards, southeastwards and eastwards on Shields Drive to Muirhouse Road.

Vehicles on Muirhouse Road wishing to travel southeastwards on Shields Road should proceed southwards on Muirhouse Road and westwards, northwestwards and northeastwards on Shields Drive to Shields Road.

Location 4

Glasgow Road, Wishaw from the most eastern splitter island at Caledonia Retail Park southeastwards for a distance of 350 metres or thereby.

Alternative routes: vehicles on the southeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the northwest side of the closure should proceed eastwards on Glasgow Road, southwestwards on Netherton Street, northwestwards on Netherton Road and Shields Road, eastwards on Craigneuk street, southeastwards on Shieldmuir Street and southeastwards on Glasgow Road to the northwest side of the closure.

Vehicles on the northwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the southeast side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Location 5

Logans Road, Motherwell from its junction with Bellshill Road southwestwards for a distance of 50 metres or thereby.

Alternative routes: vehicles on the northeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the southwest side of the closure should proceed southeastwards on Bellshill Road, southeastwards on Muir Street, northeastwards on Hope Street, southeastwards on Mentieth Road, northwestwards on West Hamilton Street, southwestwards on Hamilton Road, northwestwards on The Loaning and northeastwards on Logans Road to the southwest side of the closure.

Vehicles on the southwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the northeast side of the closure should proceed southwestwards on Logans Road, southeastwards on The Loaning, northeastwards on Hamilton Road, northwestwards on Muir Street and northwestwards on Bellshill Road to the northeast side of the closure.

Location 6

Netherton Street, Wishaw over its entire length.

Alternative routes: vehicles (14’ 3”/4.34 metres or less in height) on the northeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the southwest side of the closure should proceed southeastwards on Alexander Street, southwestwards on Caledonian Road and northwestwards on Netherton Road to the southwest side of the closure.

Vehicles (14’ 3”/4.34 metres or less in height) on the southwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the northeast side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Vehicles (exceeding 14’ 3”/4.34 metres in height) on the northeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the southwest side of the closure should proceed northwestwards on Glasgow Road, northwestwards on Shieldmuir Street, westwards on Craigneuk Street, southeastwards on Shields Road and southeastwards on Netherton Road to the southwest side of the closure.

Vehicles (exceeding 14’ 3”/4.34 metres in height) on the southwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the northeast side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

The Netherton Street closure will be split into sections and vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, from the northeast or southwest sides of the closure to all developments.

Signing will advise when local access is available.

Location 7

Shotts Road, Shotts from a point 15 metres southeast of the extended line of the northern kerb of West Benhar Road northwestwards for a distance of 1050 metres or thereby

Alternative routes: vehicles on the northwest side of the closure wishing to travel to the southeast side of the closure should proceed northwestwards on Shotts Road, southwestwards on Hirst Road, southeastwards on Newmill and Canthill Road, southeastwards on Hillhouseridge Road, northeastwards on Calderhead Road and northwestwards on Shotts Road to the southeast side of the closure.

Vehicles on the southeast side of the closure wishing to travel to the northwest side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Vehicular access to adjacent premises will be maintained, where possible, by arrangement with the contractor during each closure.

The appropriate diversion signing will be in place advising drivers of the restrictions during each closure associated with the resurfacing works. Each closure will only be valid when the appropriate signing is in place. Each closure will last approximately 5 days or thereby and no two closures will take place at the same time in the same geographical location.

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 9 July 2007 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Friday, 26 October 2007.

2. No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on carriageway resurfacing works) on the undernoted locations by reason of works being executed on or near those locations.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to travel to the east side of the closure should proceed vice versa.
