OHIO STATE’S LEVIS AND BRAENDLI AND ’S BOWLBY AND WEBSTER EARN WCHA PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS PRESENTED BY STERLING TROPHY Quartet garners league recognition for games of Feb. 12-13

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – February 16, 2021 – The Women's League of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association is proud to honor four student-athletes as the WCHA Players of the Week presented by Sterling Trophy after their excellent on-ice performances for the games of Feb. 12-13. A pair of Badgers in Wisconsin senior Grace Bowlby (Defenseman) and freshman forward Makenna Webster (Rookie) take home this week’s awards alongside the Ohio State duo of juniors Paetyn Levis (Forward) and Andrea Braendli (Goaltender).

WCHA Forward of the Week Paetyn Levis, Jr., Ohio State (Rogers, Minn.) Ohio State’s Paetyn Levis potted two game-winning goals to help Ohio State to a pair of wins over then-No. 2/2 over the weekend. The junior forward’s goal in Saturday's game helped erase an early 2-0 deficit for the Buckeyes and two of her four shots on the weekend resulted in goals. This week’s honor is the first of Levis’ career.

Honorable Mention: Sophie Shirley, Jr., Wisconsin: Posted a WCHA-best three points over the weekend to lead the Badgers to a sweep of BSU.

WCHA Defenseman of the Week Grace Bowlby, Sr., Wisconsin (Edina, Minn.) Wisconsin’s Grace Bowlby extended her point streak to eight games after posting two assists during the Badgers' sweep of Bemidji State over the weekend. Bowlby was +1 in UW's 4-0 win on Friday and posted an assist before assisting on the game-winning goal in Saturday's 7-0 win. Bowlby earned a +4 plus/minus rating in Saturday's contest and her +5 plus/minus rating was the best of any WCHA skater during the weekend. The senior blueliner also helped the Badgers post a pair of shutouts against BSU and allowed only 18 shots on net during the two-game sweep. This is the fourth weekly honor of Bowlby’s career.

Honorable Mention: Emily Brown, Sr., Minnesota: Scored Minnesota's lone goal in the Gophers' game one 2-1 loss to Ohio State. Sophie Jaques, Jr., Ohio State: Blocked a team-high five shots in a pair of Buckeye wins over then-No. 2/2 Minnesota.

WCHA Goaltender of the Week Andrea Braendli, Jr., Ohio State (Zurich, Switzerland) Ohio State’s Andrea Braendli posted a 2-0 record on the weekend with a .936 save percentage and 44 stops in two wins over then-No. 2/2 Minnesota. The junior netminder held the Gophers scoreless for over 56 minutes in Saturday's 3-2 win and for 59 minutes in Friday's 2-1 victory. This marks the 10th weekly honor of Braendli’s career.

Honorable Mention: Makayla Pahl, So., Minnesota: Made 36 saves on 38 shots faced in Minnesota's game one 2-1 loss to Ohio State. Kennedy Blair, Sr., Wisconsin: Stopped all 18 shots she faced to earn a pair of shutouts during the Badgers' sweep of Bemidji State.

WCHA Rookie of the Week Makenna Webster, Fr., F, Wisconsin (St. Louis, Mo.) Wisconsin’s Makenna Webster posted a pair of goals during the Badgers' sweep of Bemidji State at LaBahn Arena. The freshman forward scored UW's third goal in its 4-0 win on Friday before posting the game-winning goal in Saturday’s 7- 0 win on Saturday. Her two goals tied for the WCHA league while her two points ranked second among WCHA rookies behind UW teammate Lacey Eden. This marks the first weekly honor of Webster’s career.

Honorable Mention: Jenna Buglioni, Fr., F, Ohio State: Assisted on the game-winning goal in Saturday's 3-2 win over then-No. 2/2 Minnesota.

About the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Women’s League The Women's League of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association is marking its 22nd season in 2020-21. The nation's premier women's hockey conference, WCHA member institutions have won a record 17 national championships since the league's inception in 1999 (including 16 of a possible 19 NCAA titles), while producing seven Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winners, 105 All-Americans and numerous Olympic and national team members.
