Runtimes for Business enables you to obtain support for specific servers and clients in your enterprise. Monthly and perpetual licenses are available for both server and client deployments. This flexible approach to licensing can be less expensive than buying a single commercial license to cover all of your Java installations. OpenJDK support Support is provided for new distributions of long-term support (LTS) releases of OpenJDK across both server and workstation platforms. With this update, support is revised to include: • IBM Semeru Runtime Open Edition (OpenJDK with OpenJ9) binaries distributed at no cost under an open-source license. See the IBM Semeru Runtimes website. • IBM Semeru Runtime Certified Edition (OpenJDK with OpenJ9) binaries distributed at no cost under an IBM license. See the IBM Semeru Runtimes website. • Eclipse Temurin (OpenJDK with HotSpot) binaries distributed at no cost under an open-source license (Java SE certified). See the Adoptium website. Support is also included for docker images, available from Docker Hub, for the above distributions. The AdoptOpenJDK community ceases distribution of OpenJDK binaries from their website from the July, 2021 CPU update cycle. Consumers of these binaries must uptake the new distributions to continue receiving the latest security updates and code fixes that Runtimes for Business delivers in response to issues reported on the AdoptOpenJDK binaries. Java application monitoring and management IBM Cloud(R) Application Performance Management, Advanced Private provides management software to help efficiently monitor, analyze, and manage applications. Monitoring agents and data collectors are available for a variety of applications, including Java applications. Runtimes for Business provides entitlement to Cloud Application Performance Management, Advanced Private server and Java Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) data collectors for resource-level monitoring of Java applications. IBM Canada Software Announcement A21-0464 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1 With this release, monitoring and management are extended to include two new OpenJDK distributions, as listed above in the "Open JDK support" section. IBM WebSphere(R) Application Server Runtimes for Business support is included with WebSphere Application Server. With this update, WebSphere customers now get support for the IBM Semeru Runtimes and the Eclipse Temurin binaries when used to run IBM WebSphere Liberty applications. Support coverage Commercial support includes assistance with installation and configuration, defect analysis, and collaboration with open-source communities to speed resolution. The coverage includes: • Unlimited support tickets for both electronic and voice problem submissions • Support hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (or normal country business hours, excluding national or statutory holidays, in your time zone) with coverage for severity 1 problems that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year • A response target of two business hours Key requirements An OpenJDK runtime environment is required.
