CAMPING & HIKING IN THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS

October 09, 10, & 11, 2015 (Friday evening through Sunday)

TH This fall the Richmond Ski Club will produce 24 ANNUAL TOUR de LEAVES in Montebello, Virginia. We have reserved the Montebello Campground Recreation Building for this event. The recreation building will be used as a “Bunk House” for the first twenty-five (25) to register. We will be cycling (hiking for those who would rather hike) on and near the Blue Ridge Parkway, in the vicinity of Montebello. (Montebello, VA. is approximately a two hour drive from Richmond). Bike routes will include hard surface and dirt road tours. Because of the mountainous terrain, mountain bikes (fat tire) with 18 speeds or higher are recommended. The Virginia Wine and Garlic Festival is this weekend at the Rebec Vineyards in nearby Amherst, Va., for those who might be interested in this excursion. There are a number of other vineyards and brewries in the area for touring. Horseback riding and fishing are also available.

Cyclists: Helmets Required!!!

INCLUDED:  Space in the Recreation Building (first 25 to sign-up). Bring blow-up mattress, sleeping bag, cot, blankets, etc. for sleeping. Or camp outside in your tent.  Shower facilities.  The membership year ended on 4/30/2015. If mailing in your renewal, please use the NEW application form in this issue of the Pacesetter.  The price for a Family (40+) Membership has increased to $60 for the coming year.  The price for a Young Adult Family Membership has increased to $50 for the coming year.  Individual membership dues remain the same as last year.  Dependent children 25 and under, who reside at the same address, may be included on family memberships. Older children are required to have their own membership.  Significant others may also be included on family memberships provided they reside at the same address.  The RSC website has a new look!
