Produced by David Stone, of the team behind the record-breaking musical Wicked, the first National Tour of this production brings together original Broadway cast members Jackie Burns (Wicked; Hair) and Anthony Rapp (Rent; Six Degrees of Separation; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown) with Tamyra Gray (American Idol Season One Finalist; Rent), and Matthew Hydzik (Side Show; West Side Story; Grease). If/Then is an original Broadway musical which reunites composer Tom Kitt, book writer/lyricist Brian Yorkey, and director Michael Greif, the creative team behind the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal. This contemporary new musical follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in the city of infinite possibilities. When her carefully designed plans collide with the whims of fate, Elizabeth’s life splits into two parallel paths. If/Then follows both stories simultaneously as this modern woman faces the intersection of choice and chance. “If/Then serves as a marvelous bookend to our 2015/16 Broadway Philadelphia season,” said Ed Cambron, Executive Vice President of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. “This is a deeply moving story that reflects on the choices and inherent contradictions in all of our daily lives and we are certain Philadelphia audiences will love it.” Of working on the show, Wicked producer David Stone told The Wall Street Journal: “Working on If/Then over the past several years has been one of the most professionally satisfying and personally fulfilling experiences of my career…. I am extremely proud of this musical, the entire creative team and cast, and the remarkable work they have done in bringing this story to life.” Jackie Burns will play Elizabeth, a woman on the verge of turning 40 whose smallest decisions or most random occurrences will impact her world in ways she never dreamt possible. Jackie recently played the role of Elizabeth in If/Then on Broadway and has also played the iconic role of Elphaba in Wicked, both on Broadway and in the first national tour. She starred in the 2009 Tony Award-winning revival of Hair and also appeared in the original Off-Broadway cast of Rock of Ages. Anthony Rapp will play Lucas, an old college friend of Elizabeth, who reconnects with her when she moves back to New York City. Anthony is best known for originating the role of Mark Cohen in Jonathan Larson’s Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Rent. His other Broadway credits include his Broadway debut in Precious Sons with Judith Ivey and Ed Harris, for which he received an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama Desk nomination; the original company of John Guare’s Six Degrees of Separation; and the revival of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Tamyra Gray, who will play Kate, an elementary school teacher and Elizabeth’s spirited new neighbor, is best known as one of the Top 4 finalists of the first season of American Idol. Tamyra is no stranger to Broadway having made her Broadway debut in Bombay Dreams in 2004, followed by playing Mimi Marquez in Rent. She penned the songs "I Believe" for Fantasia Barrino and "You Thought Wrong" for Kelly Clarkson. Matthew Hydzik will play Josh, a handsome doctor and army reservist who meets Elizabeth on her first day back in New York City. Mr. Hydzik’s Broadway credits include Side Show, West Side Story and Grease, to name a few. His national tour credits include Rent, Fame, Grease and Flashdance. The production also features Janine DiVita, who will play Anne, Jacques C. Smith, who will play Stephen, and Marc de la Cruz, who will play David. The ensemble includes English Bernhardt, Charissa Bertels, Xavier Cano, Trey Ellett, Kyra Faith, Corey Greenan, Cliffton Hall, Deedee Magno Hall, Tyler McGee, Joseph Morales, Emily Rogers, and Alicia Taylor Tomasko. If/Then features choreography by Larry Keigwin, set design by Tony Award-nominee Mark Wendland, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Tony Award-winner Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Award-winner Brian Ronan.     If/Then Lights Up PPAC It is not every day that we have a chance to see Broadway caliber performances here in our creative capitol. PPAC is changing that this weekend with the national tour of If/Then. This beautiful show ran for a year on Broadway and is completing its tour in New England, with three of the Broadway performers, Jackie Burns, Anthony Rapp and Tamara Gray. It’s exciting for audience members, and it’s also exciting for those in the theater. Caitlyn Dipompo, PPAC’s marketing projects specialist notes, “There is additional excitement around the theater when OBC members perform here. Not everyone has the chance to see these productions on Broadway with the original cast, so it is really special for people to see someone like Anthony Rapp or Jackie Burns right here in Providence, at their hometown theater.” Rapp, theatergoers will know from RENT, as Marc Cohen, and longtime PPAC audience members will remember his reprisal of that role in 2009 on tour. Burns stepped in for powerhouse Idina Menzel on Broadway, and took over Menzel’s leg of the national tour. Of course a musical that originally starred Menzel and Rapp will make even the novice RENThead reminiscent for Jonathan’s Larson’s musical. Rapp acknowledges that “there is some DNA they both share, and that many fans have remarked that and it’s very meaningful to Tom (Kitt) and Brian (Yorkey).” As an actress, you know that any role written for Idina Menzel is going to be pretty darn fabulous. This is something that Burns repeats with a smile.

A leader and pioneer in curriculum based standards and exciting and educational custom designed workshops and presentations, she has been recognized as a cutting edge and highly effective creative presence within public and private schools nationwide. She has been dedicated to arts and education for the past twenty years. Graduating from New York University with a degree in theater and communication, she began her work early on as a theatrical talent agent and casting director in Hollywood. Due to her expertise and comprehensive focus on education, she was asked to teach acting to at-risk teenagers with Jean Stapleton's foundation, The Academy of Performing and Visual Arts in East Los Angeles. Out of her work with these artistically talented and gifted young people, she co-wrote and directed a musical play entitled Second Chance, which toured as an Equity TYA contract to over 350,000 students in California and surrounding states. National mental health experts recognized the play as an inspirational arts model for crisis intervention, and interpersonal issues amongst teenagers at risk throughout the country. WGBH/PBS was so impressed with the play they commissioned it for adaptation to teleplay in 1996.

    Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre The Tom Hendry Warehouse Performance History Second Stage Productions: 1958 — Today The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre’s second stage has, over the years, changed both location and name. Originally housed in the old Dominion Theatre, it was simply known as the Studio Theatre. Then in 1965, with a new location, it was appropriately called Theatre-Across-The-Street. In 1969, a permanent facility was established at 140 Rupert Avenue and a new name introduced, the MTC Warehouse Theatre. At the 50th Anniversary Homecoming celebration on May 11, 2008, the Warehouse theatre was officially dedicated to MTC co-founder and first general manager, Tom Hendry.     By: Natalie Kates April 2006 Rent Star, Anthony Rapp, Speaks at FSU On April 3, Rent star Anthony Rapp shared with a packed crowd at Florida State University’s Ruby Diamond Auditorium stories about his newest book, the Rent movie, and his experiences acting in the Broadway musical. According to Rapp, “Rent has been my favorite role because it has spoken to young people and has served as a voice for progressive thought in an often conservative country.” Critics have considered Rent to be highly controversial because of its subject matter concerning AIDS, drugs, homosexuality, and transsexual lifestyles. Rapp, 35, has been acting since he was 10. He is most famous for his Broadway performances in Rent and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. He has acted in movies, including Dazed and Confused, Road Trip, Twister, a Beautiful Mind and Cruise Control. He’s also appeared on Law & Order and the X-files. By far, Rapp considers his part as Mark Cohen in Rent to also be his most famous role. “I love playing parts. To get to do something like Rent that puts together everything I believe in is very invigorating and incredible to be a part of,” said Rapp. When Rapp came onstage, the audience broke into applause since many ‘Rentheads’, as Rent fans are often called, came to hear him speak. “Each time I listen to Rent, I take in more and more from the songs and they mean more to me each time I hear them played,” said ‘Renthead’ fan, Amy Purifoy. The three main people who hosted this event were Griffith, Allison Segal, Manager of Student Life Cinema, and Allison Parkin, volunteer at Student Life Cinema.

    THE RCA RECORDS LABEL ___________________________________________ RCA RECORDS TO RELEASE AMERICAN IDOL: GREATEST MOMENTS ON OCTOBER 1 On the heels of crowning Kelly Clarkson as America's newest pop superstar, RCA Records is proud to announce the release of American Idol: Greatest Moments on Oct. 1. The first full-length album of material from Fox's smash summer television hit, "American Idol," will include four songs by Clarkson, two by runner-up Justin Guarini, a song each by the remaining eight finalists, and “California Dreamin’” performed by all ten. All 14 tracks on American Idol: Greatest Moments, produced by Steve Lipson (Backstreet Boys, Annie Lennox), were performed on "American Idol" during the final weeks of the reality-based television barnburner. In addition to Kelly and Justin, the show's remaining eight finalists featured on the album include Nikki McKibbon, Tamyra Gray, EJay Day, RJ Helton, AJ Gil, Ryan Starr, Christina Christian, and Jim Verraros. Producer Steve Lipson, who put the compilation together in an unprecedented two-weeks time, finds a range of pop gems on the album. "I think Kelly's version of ‘Natural Woman' is really strong. Her vocals are brilliant. She sold me on the song completely. I like Christina's 'Ain't No Sunshine.' I think she got the emotion of it across well. Nikki is very good as well -- very underestimated. And Tamyra is brilliant too so there's not much more to say about her."     Letter from Amy Weinstein, Artistic Director of StudentsLive Passport to Broadway: It is very nice to meet you and thank you for taking a moment to read about the very unique mission and purpose of this Brooklyn College Musical Theater Intensive. I am so pleased to be able to bring my professional background, long held respect and contacts in the theater community on Broadway, across the country and world, and expertise in theater history, methods and philosophies of theater education to help inspire and increase your skill sets at every level and instill confidence in your own unique talents. I believe that the best theater studies should prepare students for all kinds of careers that will enrich and transform the human experience in a rich, incandescent, diverse and highly multi-disciplinary environment. These last eighteen years have been a powerful experience for myself and my creative and production team travelling to 7 countries and hosting seven more here direct on Broadway in New York City with our Passport to Broadway Program. The thousands of serious aspiring students involved in this rigorous process grew beyond our wildest imagination with a passion and dedication for learning and performing this very challenging art form in almost impossible short windows of time; What would normally require a Broadway professional at least 6 to 8 weeks of rehearsals is taught and learned eloquently in 10 short days with our exceptional Broadway Artists faculty and students. They made the virtually impossible, possible. And that is a testament to both their talents and hard work, as well as the collaboration and individual expression great Musical Theater evokes.
