Day 1 • Arrival at accommodation and dinner. Day 2 • Breakfast and departure to the Capilla Castle, overlooking the La Serena reservoir for the observation of birds like Black Stork, Black Kite, Eurasian Griffon Vulture, Lesser Kestrel, Eurasian Eagle Owl, etc. • Visit to the Octava del Corpus Museum in the neighbouring town of Peñalsordo and the Auroros Museum in Zarzacapilla. • Lunch on your own. • Visit to the Centre for the Interpretation of Cave Paintings in . • Return to rural accommodation and dinner.

Day 3 • Breakfast and departure to Almorchón Castle to start bird watching in the area of the Sierra de Tiros, spotting birds such as Eurasian Griffon Vulture and Golden Eagle. Visit to the Belén hermitage (13th century) of Templar origin. • Lunch on your own. • Visit to Puerto Mejoral, observing the intersection of Dehesa, steppe and Mediterranean forest. • Arrival at Benquerencia de la Serena and climb to the castle to observe birds such as Eurasian Crag Martin, Eurasian

Eagle Owl, Red-rumped Swallow, etc. Visit to the castle and the Chalcolithic (3rd millennium BC) cave paintings at Benquerencia de la Serena. • Return to rural accommodation and dinner. • (Note: Common Crane watching in winter).

Day 4 • Breakfast and departure to to visit the Museum of Turrón and the Centre for the Interpretation of La Serena and Sierras Periféricas. • Route along the Senda del Rey cattle track, arriving at the Guadalefra river wetlands and the Badija Dehesa, with species such as Grey Heron, Black-shouldered Kite, Southern Grey Shrike, etc • Lunch on your own. • Route through the Los Campillos steppe, continuing along the Senda del Rey, spotting steppe birds like Great Bustards and Little Bustards. • Return to rural accommodation and dinner.

Day 5 • Breakfast and departure to the Hijovejo roman archaeological site and the Cancho Roano Tartessian site, in the vicinity of the Ortiga River with wetlands and dehesa bird spotting. • Lunch on your own.

• Visit to the El Paredón Dam wetlands in Campanario, watching birds such as Grey Heron, Great Cormorant, Black-crowned Night Heron, Moorhen, Black-winged Stilt, etc. • Visit to the Tartessian site of La Mata. • Return to rural accommodation and dinner.

Day 6 • Breakfast and departure to the town of Magacela, declared of Cultural Interest by the Junta de . Climb to the Magacela Castle for the spotting of birds such as Black Kite, Lesser Kestrel, Western Jackdaw, Black Wheatear, Common House Martin, Barn Swallow, Red-rumped Swallow, etc. • Visit to the old quarter of Magacela. • Lunch on your own. • Visit to the La Antigua hermitage (14th century) next to the Ortiga River, observing wetlands birds and route through an interesting rural heritage, highlights of which include the Roman bridge of La Antigua and the water mills. • Return to rural accommodation and dinner.
