He then worked as a graduate assistant under Marsh until completing his master’s degree in higher educaiton administration in 1999.

From 1999 until 2008, Healey worked in various capacities as a volunteer assistant coach under Marsh and Richard Quick, serving as the meet director for home meets in the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. In that time he worke the

United States Swimming Junior Nationals as the Co-Meet Director, United States

staff after previously serving as a volunteer assistant and videographer.

Long moves into the position vacated by Brian Barnes after he left the Auburn

staff to take over as the women’s head coach at Notre Dame.

The native of Hampton, Va., moves into the coaching role after serving last

season as Auburn’s fi rst videographer. As the team’s videographer, he focused on

gathering underwater and above water video of meets and taking footage of the

swimmers in practice to pass along to the coaching staff for stroke analysis.

Using the Darkfi sh program for stroke analysis, Long was able to take stroke

and swimmer evaluation at Auburn to a new level. An obvious change that came

about through Long’s work are the televisions that are now mounted with

cameras near the critical areas of the pool. With more cameras on deck, there is

more opportunity for the coaching staff to go document and archive thr training

techniques used in practice.

Prior to coming on as videographer, Long spent one season working as a vol-

Championships in 2007. While working as a volunteer assistant, Long also spent

part of his time working as an assistant with the Auburn Aquatics club team.
