Holmes/2014, Rory McIlroy/2015 and Jason Day/2018). - Day becomes the 13th third-round leader/co-leader to win on TOUR in 2017-18 (through 26 stroke-play events). - Day has held 14 54-hole lead/co-leads on TOUR and has won seven of those. - Day has converted six of his last seven 54-hole leads/co-leads on TOUR, including today. After holding a share of the 54-hole lead at the 2016 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, he finished T3. Last year was the first season Day failed to win on TOUR since 2014. Day led the field in Strokes Gained: Around the Green and was 15 of 16 Sand Saves. He also ranked second for SG:Putting (8.245) and needed only 101 putts for the week, with just 22 in the final round. Day birdied the first two holes of “The Green Mile” en route to victory. The par-3 17th played the hardest in the final round (3.573). Day was one of three birdies in the final round, almost holing out from 231 yards. For the 11th time in his career as a professional, Tiger Woods failed to record a birdie in a round (3-over 74). It was the first time since the final round of the 2014 World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship (at Doral). Phil Mickelson posted the most birdies of the day, 7 (tied with T.J. Vogel), to finish T5, his eighth top-five result at the Wells Fargo Championship, the most of any player. The Wells Fargo Championship remains one of eight PGA TOUR tournaments Mickelson has made 10 or more starts without a win.
