Sunday 23 rd Sunday of the Year 8.30, 10.00, 11.30, 18.00 Fr. Duncan writes: It is with sadness we record the death of Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor. He passed away peacefully on Friday 1st September. As we mourn his death, we reflect on what he has Monday – Saturday done for the Church during almost 30 years as a bishop, firstly in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton 10.00 and as announced then nine years as of Westminster, before he retired in 2009. Many of us will be thinking of The Cardinal this week and remembering those special ways in which he Exposition of the Blessed touched our lives. It could have been when he came to our parish or school, maybe in Lourdes or the Sacrament: Cathedral for a Mass or something he said or wrote. Each one of us will have our own thoughts, our Mon - Fri: 10.30 – 11.00am own memories of that special moment. These we thank God for. Saturday The Funeral Rites for Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor Sacrament of Reconciliation: On Tuesday, 12th September, the reception of the Cardinal's body will take place at 10am at 10.30-11.30, 17.15 – 17.30 with a short service. All are welcome to attend the service. The Cardinal's body will lie in the cathedral throughout the day and all are welcome to visit to pay their respects, pray and Collections sign the book of condolence. At 5pm on the same day, Cardinal Vincent will preside at the Solemn Vespers of the Dead, and Archbishop Bernard Longley will preach. All are welcome to this service. The Envelopes £ 1450.74 cathedral will remain open until 8pm for visitors who may wish to pay their respects. On Wednesday, Loose £ 861.31 13th September, the Requiem Mass and burial of Cardinal Cormac will take place at 12 noon.
