About the area Pitcombe is a charming village very close to the market town of Bruton. Bruton is a small ancient town (population around 3,000) in South situated in the Brue Valley surrounded by beautiful and accessible countryside. Predating Roman times it has evolved gently through the ages with many interesting and historical buildings defining its character. In the time of Canute there was a Royal Mint in Bruton and it's recorded in the Doomsday book. Later it developed as a market town and the wool and silk trade prospered. Today its main industries are agriculture and education with five schools in Bruton: King's School, founded in 1519, Bruton School for Girls, Sexey's School, and a Primary School. There are other excellent independent schools in the area including Hazlegrove at , Millfield at Street, Sherborne Schools, Wells Cathedral School, Downside, Port Regis and St Mary’s, Shaftesbury.

Weavers Cottage has Cary stone elevations under a tiled roof. The two front doors have been retained as part of the house’s character with the door into “number 3” opening into the sitting room.

The sitting room has plenty of period features including a wood burner, wooden floorboards and a window with window seat and shutters. Two sets of double doors either side of the fireplace open into the living room which has similar features and a double aspect. Adjacent is the snug which has a door leading out to the garden. At the rear of the house there is a splendid garden room with exposed stone work and french doors leading outside. This is a wonderfully light and airy room in which to sit and would serve as a lovely dining room.

The kitchen has an electric cooker, induction hob, Belfast sink, wooden worktops and a variety of painted wall and base units. A window looks out from the kitchen to the garden. Also on the ground floor is the boiler/utility cupboard which has plumbing for a washing machine.

Two sets of staircases have been retained with one offering separate access to the first floor. The master bedroom has a wardrobe and a double aspect with a stunning outlook over the garden and countryside to the rear. The bathroom has a bath with shower overhead, contemporary basin unit and w/c. Accessed from the other staircase are the two further bedrooms, both double in size with stunning views. There is also a shower room with shower, w/c, heated towel rail and basin. Accessed from the landing is the airing cupboard.

The garden is most definitely worthy of note. Immediately outside the cottage is an expansive patio area with a pergola and plenty of space for al fresco dining. Beyond is a beautiful 120’ long garden enjoying an immense variety of flowers and shrubs with lawned paths and herbaceous borders. There are roses, climbing grape vines, archways and seating areas. Running along the far western boundary is a stream which adds to the charm of the cottage’s position. In addition there is a garden store, greenhouse and an external water source.

Nb. Planning permission has been granted for a ground floor extension. Application number 15/03774/FUL District Council.
