Barry Davis enters his eighth season at Rider University with a career record of 761-348, including 190-181 at Rider. In 2010 he led Rider to a program-best 36 wins and last year he tied the program record with 33 regu- lar season wins. In just his fourth season at Rider Coach Davis led the Broncs to the 2008 NCAA Tournament as champion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and repeated that accomplishment in 2010, guiding Rider to the MAAC Title and to the NCAA Regional at Austin, Texas. Davis’ Broncs have made the four-team MAAC playoffs four straight years. Davis was named the Rider head coach in July of 2004. In his first year he led Rider to a 21-win season, in- cluding a 14-13 record in the MAAC. In his second season, he was named the co-winner of the MAAC Baseball Coach of the Year award, leading the Broncs to a playoff berth and a third place finish in the MAAC. In 2010 Davis was named the New Jersey College Baseball Association Division I Coach of the Year. Barry Davis In 2008 his team defeated the top seed, Canisius, and beat the third seed, Siena, two out of three games to win the MAAC tournament, held at Mercer County’s Waterfront Park, and advance to the NCAA Tournament in Fullerton, California. Prior to coming to Rider Davis was the head coach at Georgia Southwestern State University from 2001-2004. The four-time NJCAA Division III National Coach of the Year at Gloucester County College, Davis has compiled 761 victories in his head coaching career with just 348 losses, including 190 wins at Rider and an 11-year stint at Gloucester CC where he won four National Junior College titles and eight Regional Championships. Davis was 137-87 at Georgia Southwestern, winning the 2002 conference regular season and finishing with a National NAIA Ranking of fifth, earning Georgia Dugout Club NAIA Coach of the Year honors. Davis has sent 18 of his players on to the professional ranks, including Jamie Hayes of the 2009 squad and Scott Knazek of the 2006 Rider squad. Davis also coached the National Junior College Athletic Association all-star team in 1999 which defeated Team Canada. A 1987 graduate of Bridgewater (VA) College, Davis has assisted at George Mason and Frostburg State. Davis was an All-Conference and All-State at Bridgewater, earning team MVP honors as a junior. Davis is Rider’s eighth baseball coach and just the third since 1960.

Jaime Steward of Blackwood, a former in the Anaheim Angels organization, begins his fourth season as an assistant coach at Rider. “Jaime was an excellent addition to our staff,” said Rider head coach Barry Davis. “He has been successful at every level and has pitched for championship teams at the high school and college level.” “I am very excited to be a part of the Rider Baseball Program,” said Steward. “Coach Davis is a proven winner and I am constantly learning from him.” Steward is a 1997 graduate of Gloucester Catholic High School and a 2001 graduate of Le Moyne College. At Le Moyne Steward graduated as the career leader in and , and was drafted in the 39th round by the Angels. “As a former player in the MAAC, this is familiar territory for me,” Steward said. The 2001 Le Moyne Athlete of the Year, Steward was the MAAC Pitcher of the Year in 1999, after earning Jaime Steward MAAC Rookie of the Year honors in 1998. At Gloucester Catholic Steward earned All-State and honorable men- tion All-America honors as a senior, leading his team to a national ranking of fifth. “I have high expectations for our pitching staff as we work toward regaining the MAAC Championship,” Steward said. After two years in the Angels’ organization Steward pitched for the Camden River Sharks and the Atlantic City Surf, and was selected as the starting pitcher in the 2005 Atlantic League South Division All-Star game. “That experience brings instant credibility to our pitching pro- gram,” Davis said. “I am looking forward to working with him this year.”

A pair of 2011 graduates, Karl Johnston and Jeff Giordano, return to their alma mater to assist the Bronc coaching staff this year. Johnston played three seasons at Rider, two as a starter, and compiled 119 hits and 104 runs scored while making 105 starts in the Rider outfield. A career .287 hitter, Johnston was 46 of 53 stolen bases in his career and had a fielding percent- age of .977 in right field. Johnston came to Rider following a year at the New Mexico Military Institute. At the Peddie School Johnston earn Prep School All-State honors and was his team MVP, setting the Peddie school record for stolen bases. He also earned Prep School All-State honors in football as a defensive back. As a junior at Rider Johnston started every game and scored a team-high 24 runs in 24 MAAC games. As a Karl Johnston senior Johnston collected his 100th in his 92nd start. Jeff Giordano Giordano made 45 appearances on the Rider mound, 43 in relief, and owned a 3-1 record with a pair of saves in 77 innings of work. Last year opponents batted just .225 against “Gio” in 19 appearances. As a junior he pitched in the 2010 NCAA Regional and as a senior he owned the best earned average on the 2011 team and was second on the team in appearances. Giordano was an All-State selection in baseball at Massapequa (NY) High School and also earned All-County honors in track & field and was an All-Conference defender on the soccer team.
