Music for Two of our music groups, Saxaphonics and Boo & the Crew, had a fantastic day performing at the Youth National National Final of the Music for Youth Festival on Saturday 16 July.

Competition Saxaphonics were praised for their "visual and cleverly choreographed display" which they delivered whilst "projecting their music and placing some tricky off-beat phrases". They were also praised for the great solos within the group, and the judges commented that they felt like they'd been transported to New Orleans!

Boo & the Crew also received great feedback for their varied programme including a student-composed piece which the judges praised for "it's deep, dark harmonic moments sitting effectively against the dance- like melodic development". They were commended for their "musical maturity, lashings of expression and technical accuracy".

Both groups did Bingley proud, playing on the same bill as many older, full-time music students and receiving much well deserved applause from their audiences.

Elizabethan To celebrate our partnership with the RSC we held an Elizabethan Day last week which was once again a Day huge success. This was our third Elizabethan Day and our biggest yet inviting over 340 Yr 5 students to

join us from local Primary schools. Drama workshops went on all day with scenes from Macbeth being brought to life. These classes were run by our RSC trained staff aided by our Yr 8 students. The children really engaged with the scenes and their portrayal of the witches was often terrifying! THE NEWS @ Bingley Grammar School 21 July 2016

The children also enjoyed Archery, Fencing, Falconry and a Jousting show bringing Shakespearean times to life. Miss Boyd also worked with students from Primary to create a new mural for the school focusing on our School Ethos - Belong, Grow, Succeed. RSC This week saw the culmination of the RSC partnership for this year, with students from Bingley, Partnership Crossflatts, , Harden and Buttershaw performing on the Swan Theatre Stage in front of a packed audience.
