Gene Watson Fan Club Newsletter March/April 2014 Volume 34 Hi Friends- I’m happy to say we have a new album coming out June 10th titled “My Heroes Have Always Been Country”. Although it will be in select stores, as you are aware by now, most of the big “box” stores as they call them, don’t carry a whole lot of CDs anymore and certainly not much Classic Country. You’ll always find my music at Ernest Tubb Records and some of the great in- dependent record stores. You can also buy it online at places Here Comes My Baby Back like Amazon, I-Tunes or at my store at Again www.GeneWatsonMusic.com . This is a collection of some of Don’t You Believe Her my favorite classic country songs that you’ll know by greats like George Jones, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, Dottie West and Slide Off Of Your Satin Sheets more. I can’t wait for you to hear it and hope you like it as Make The World Go Away much as I do. In other news, we’re going to Alaska in July! I’m looking for- Long Black Veil ward to that as everyone says it’s a trip of a lifetime. If you It’s Not Love, But It’s Not haven’t signed up, check it out at www.CFRcruise.com. It’s a 7 Bad day Sawyer Glacier cruise July 19-26 and departs from Seattle, Walk Through This World WA. • Multimillion-Selling Singer Crystal Gayle Has Performed Songs from a Wide Variety of Genres During Her Award-Studded Career, B
MultiMillion-selling singer Crystal Gayle has performed songs from a wide variety of genres during her award-studded career, but she has never devoted an album to classic country music. Until now. You Don’t Know Me is a collection that finds the acclaimed stylist exploring the songs of such country legends as George Jones, Patsy Cline, Buck Owens and Eddy Arnold. The album might come as a surprise to those who associate Crystal with an uptown sound that made her a star on both country and adult-contemporary pop charts. But she has known this repertoire of hardcore country standards all her life. “This wasn’t a stretch at all,” says Crystal. “These are songs I grew up singing. I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time. “The songs on this album aren’t songs I sing in my concerts until recently. But they are very much a part of my history.” Each of the selections was chosen because it played a role in her musical development. Two of them point to the importance that her family had in bringing her to fame. You Don’t Know Me contains the first recorded trio vocal performance by Crystal with her singing sisters Loretta Lynn and Peggy Sue. It is their version of Dolly Parton’s “Put It Off Until Tomorrow.” “You Never Were Mine” comes from the pen of her older brother, Jay Lee Webb (1937-1996). The two were always close. Jay Lee was the oldest brother still living with the family when their father passed away.

As many of you may have seen, I was surprised onstage at the Grand Ole Opry by Mark Wills when he presented a plaque to commemorate my three #1 singles in a row on the Country Christian Gospel charts. I nev- er expected such a thing to happen at this stage in my career but I know I have you to thank for listening to my Gospel music and re- questing it. I'm already thinking about recording a new Country album and I'm looking forward to getting in the studio, hopefully before Fall. Gene Watson Fan Club Newsletter August, 2021 75th Diamond Edition Dear Friends - Can you believe this is our 75th newsletter? That’s why we are calling this our 75th Diamond Edition. Sounds fancy don’t you think? We’re just glad you’re still reading our newsletter and still being the loyal fans that you are. You are why I get to sing for my living. I never forget that and I always appreciate you. The band and I have been enjoying our shows more than ever since we had to go so long without being able to sing for you. We’ve also been fortunate to get back onto the Opry stage. We truly enjoy the family atmos- phere that you can feel at the Opry so we go as often as we can and in fact, our next appearance is Friday, August 27th. I’m not sure what songs we’ll sing yet but I expect we’ll be on close to 7PM since we’ll have to head right out to get on the road to Winchester, OH. Another exciting thing is the new music in the works. I plan to get back to the studio in a couple of weeks and that has kept me busy, working on song selections and more. It always takes far longer than I expect to get everything done after the recording sessions are finished. All that licensing and stuff that I’m glad to turn over to other people takes time, then there’s getting artwork approved and more. I’ll just have to let you know as its coming along what we expect the release date will be.

Gene Watson Fan Club Newsletter Volume 68 May - June, 2020 Dear Friends - What a strange year we're having. I'm staying home and trying to be careful and I hope you are doing the same. I'm looking forward to when we can all get back to our normal routines. Being off the road has given the band and me time to reflect on the past. As we look forward to getting back on the road, we have realized just how much we miss inter- acting with you, our friends and fans. We get as much enjoyment seeing you singing along, applauding, as you do listening to your favorites coming from us. And, personally, I miss the paper roses. Wonder how many paper roses have made it to our shows over the years? Once the venues are allowed to re-open at full capacity and no restrictions, we hope we can get back to our normal schedule. In the meantime, for any of our shows in your area, always double check with the venue first. Things are changing daily.
