where C is the credit value of the course. 21.2 Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA)

Credit Points for the paper = No. of Credits assigned x Grade Point secured (CP) for the paper for that Paper

38 lJ01~~ege (Autonomous), Mandya - 571401 Rules and Regulations - 2016

SGPA indicates the performance of a student in a given Semester. SGPA is based on the total credit points earned by the student in all the courses and the total number of credits assigned to the courses/papers in a Semester.

Note: SGPA is computed only if the candidate passes in all the courses (gets a minimum P grade in all the courses) of a semester. Total Credit Points in the Semester SGPA of a semester = Total Credits in that Semester

21.3 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) CGPA refers to the Cumulative Grade Point Average weighted across all the semesters. CGPA is obtained by dividing the total number of credit points (CP) in all the semesters by the total number of credits in all the Semesters. The fmal result at the end of all the semesters is declared in the form of CGP A.

Note: CGPA is calculated only when the candidate passes in all the courses of all the semesters. Total CP of I Semester + Total CP of II Semester + Total CP of III Semester + Total CP of IV Semester CGP A = -=------:-----::---:-:-----=--c-,---::------,-----,---:-,---::---- Total Credits of I Semester + Total credits of II Semester + Total credits of III Semester + Total Credits of IV Semester

21.4 Classification of results

The final grade point to be awarded to the student is based on CGP A secured by the

candidate and is given as follows.

CGPA Qualitative Index

8.0 -10.0 Distinction

6.0 -7.9 First Class

5.0 - 5.9 Second Class

4.0 -4.9 Successful

Equivalent/Overall percentage = 10 x (CGPA - 0.5)
