WELCOME Personnel from the event organisation will be on hand in the media areas throughout the event to assist you in fulfilling your role at the event. If you have an enquiry, in the first instance please contact the member of media staff who is on site in the area where you are working. Should you require further assistance please contact the relevant person using the contact details at the back of this document. GETTING HERE Venue location The Emirates Arena 1000 London Road, G40 3HG United Kingdom Travel and transport By road At junction 2A on the M74, take the A74 exit to Tollcross/Cambuslang. At the roundabout, take the exit onto Fullarton Rd/London Rd/A74. Then take a left on to the East End Regeneration Route. Parking Media parking will be available on-site. A parking pass will be given with your accreditation when you arrive. This must be displayed in the vehicle at all times when on-site. Blue badge parking will be available on-site. Spaces do not need to be pre-booked, however a blue badge must be displayed at all times. Parking map: By bike The Emirates Arena is only a 10-minute cycle from Glasgow city centre and both Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street train stations. There are over 200 cycling spaces available. By bus The nearest bus stops to the Emirates Arena are at the Forge Retail Park, just a short walk away. By train The newly-renovated Dalmarnock Rail Station is just a short walk from the Emirates Arena. Train services at this station run on a four-per-hour basis all day from Monday to Saturday on the Argyle Line through Glasgow Central Low Level. Dalmarnock Rail Station operates a limited service on Sundays. The nearest alternative station is Bridgeton. By plane Glasgow has one of the UK’s fastest-growing airports and new flights are always being added. The airport is 13 miles away from the Emirates Arena. You can find more venue information on The Emirates Arena website here: http://www.emiratesarena.co.uk ACCREDITATION When you arrive at the Emirates Arena please enter the building through the main entrance and proceed to the permanence/accreditation centre, which will be signposted inside. You will be able to collect your media accreditation pass from here. You will need your media accreditation pass to access the media areas at the event. Accreditation centre opening hours: Thursday 3 November 09:00 – 20:00 Friday 4 November 09:30 – 22:00 Saturday 5 November 09:00 – 20:00 Sunday 6 November 08:15 – 15:30 Please note that these are the opening times for the accreditation centre. You will be able to collect your media accreditation between these hours but will only be able to access the media areas at the times detailed in this manual. Accreditation passes are provided with a lanyard and must be worn and visible whenever you are present in the venue. It is extremely important that your accreditation is displayed correctly and you adhere to its restrictions. Stewards and security personnel have been instructed to maintain access control as designated by the event management and we request that you adhere to their instructions at all times. Please allow extra time before you arrive at the venue for the first time to go through the accreditation procedures. Please bear in mind that you are personally responsible for the safe keeping of your accreditation. If your pass is lost or stolen, please inform the media centre staff immediately. There will be a £20 charge for replacing each accreditation. WRITTEN PRESS AND PHOTOGRAPHERS Media areas opening times Thursday 3 November 16:30 – 20:30 Friday 4 November 10:00 – 22:00 Saturday 5 November 09:00 – 22:15 Sunday 6 November 08:00 – 18:30 Written press Tier 1 Tier 1 written press journalists will have access to working spaces in the media tribunes on the spectator concourse (level 3). The media tribunes located in blocks DD, EE and G are accessible from Level 3, signposted “Door 2 blocks C – G”. Each working space is equipped with power and cable internet. Wireless internet will also be available in this area but please come prepared to use cable internet as this will be more reliable in a full venue. Written press with tier 1 accreditation will also have access to the track centre infield including the team areas and mixed zone. As an exception, please note that no interviews with the top three riders will be allowed in the team areas between the end of racing and the award ceremonies. The first interviews to be conducted with the top three riders will take place in the mixed zone. Tier 2 Tier 2 written press journalists will have access to the ground floor media centre (level 2 of the Emirates Arena), which is equipped with working stations, cabled internet access and power points. Wireless internet will be available in the ground floor media centre but please come prepared to use cable internet as this will be more reliable in a full venue. A feed showing the racing will be available to view in the media centre. Written press with tier 2 accreditation will also have access to the track centre infield including the team areas and mixed zone. As an exception, please note that no interviews of the top three riders will be allowed in the team areas between the end of racing and the award ceremonies. The first interviews to be conducted with the top three riders will take place in the mixed zone. Tier 2 journalists are asked to return to the ground floor media centre to work as soon as interviews being conducted in the infield are complete. Mixed zone We ask all journalists to prioritise using the mixed zone for rider interviews. Anyone wishing to interview riders outside of the medal ceremonies/mixed zone should contact the press officer for the relevant team. A list of contacts will be provided to all registered media in a separate communication. Please note: it is at the discretion of a cyclist and his/her support team as to when or if they are available for media interviews. Riders may not be available for interviews if they are riding in future events or are needed for doping control procedures. Photographers Yellow bib photographers Photographers allocated a yellow bib will have access to the track apron and track centre infield, team areas, spectator concourse and to the medal ceremony area during podium presentations. They will also have access to a working area on the ramp at corner four which will be equipped with working spaces, cabled internet and power points. Red bib photographers Photographers allocated a red bib will have access to the track centre infield, spectator concourse and to the medal ceremony area during podium presentations. Red bib photographers will not have access to the track apron. Red bib photographers will be allocated a working space either in the photographers’ area on the ramp on corner four or in the ground floor media centre and will be advised of this in advance of the event. Medal ceremonies Photographers may take photographs from behind the roped off area in front of the podium with priority positions given to yellow bib photographers. Please follow the instructions of the media staff working in this area and bear in mind that the area in front of the roped off area is reserved for the host broadcaster. Guidance for photographers Photography bibs will be distributed from the ground floor media centre. Bibs require a deposit of £20 or a professional press/photographer card. Photographers must follow the instructions of race officials at all times. Race officials may remove photographers from the track apron at their discretion. Photographers shooting on the track apron must wear their yellow bib at all times. Photographers on the track apron are responsible for themselves and any consequences of their behaviour and must stay within 1.5 metres of the inner fence at all times. Photographers may not place any equipment including tripods, bags and clothing on the apron in case a rider needs to exit the track unexpectedly. Please be aware of what is happening on the track at all times and never turn your back on the cyclists who will always travel in an anti-clockwise direction on the track. Please also take care not to impede race officials in their management of the event. Please do not step in front of the infield cameras as the event is being broadcast live on television. During the keirin events, please be aware that the derny will exit the track in the back straight with two and a half laps to go. General information Spectator stands Media will not be allowed to sit or stand in the spectator seating area. All areas will be signposted and if you need assistance please ask a member of the press team. Medal ceremonies Medal ceremonies will take place as per the schedule in the programme, although these timings are also subject to change. Refreshments Self-service tea and coffee are available in the ground floor media centre (level 2) throughout each session. The Emirates Arena cafe (also level 2) will be open during the event and serves a selection of hot and cold food and drinks. During competition refreshments will also be available on the spectator concourse (level 3). Filming The rights for continuous filming of the event are restricted to the authorised parties. Filming for broadcast (including online) may only take place by written permission of UCI.
