The Hero Challenge was staged under lights at a specially constructed Par-3 on the 18th hole at the stunning Close House golf course. Making a great debut at the Hero Challenge amidst a packed house of over 4000 fans, Westwood defeated Spanish Golfer, Sergio Garcia in a shoot-out in the final, after eliminating Britain’s Ross Fisher and Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger in a similar fashion in earlier rounds. The third Hero Challenge, and the fourth overall, will be held in Dubai at the DP World Tour Championships in November. Commenting on the occasion, Westwood said, “It’s a great way to kick off the tournament. It’s different and I really enjoyed it. -

“Golf Superheroes” at the BMW International Open. Double Major
Press Information 16th April 2015 “Golf superheroes” at the BMW International Open. Double major winner Kaymer, “Ice Man” Stenson, “Spiderman” Villegas, and “Iron Man” Cejka join BMW champions Siem and Casey in Munich. Munich. For almost three decades, the stars of the golf scene have assembled in Germany for a showdown at the BMW International Open. This tradition is set to continue at the 27th staging of the prestigious tournament (23rd to 28th June 2015, Golfclub München Eichenried). Fans can already look forward to an attractive field. Martin Kaymer remains the only German to have won the BMW International Open. That victory came back in 2008, at the 20th anniversary of the tournament at Golfclub München Eichenried. Since then, Kaymer has established himself as one of the very best in the world, successfully overcoming a bit of a slump in the process. The former world number one impressed the golfing world last season with his second major victory after the 2010 US PGA Championship. The man from Düsseldorf won the U.S. Open with a sensational score of nine under par and an eight-shot lead over the opposition. In Autumn, Kaymer celebrated his third Ryder Cup triumph with the European team. His many fans in Germany can look forward to another appearance at the BMW International Open from the top German golfer at this time. Kaymer finished tied in fourth place on his last outing in Munich in 2013 – just four shots off what would have been a second German victory. Henrik Stenson is currently ranked number three in the world and the Swede, who enjoys a huge fan base all over the world, will be out to put on a good show for his many fans in Germany. -

COLIN MONTGOMERIE Thursday, February 13, 2014
PRE-TOURNAMENT INTERVIEW TRANSCRIPT: COLIN MONTGOMERIE Thursday, February 13, 2014 DAVE SENKO: Well, Colin, thanks for joining us. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Not at all, thank you. DAVE SENKO: A T-10 last week. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: T-10, that's what you call it over here. DAVE SENKO: And you had kind of -- you were all over the world prior to that. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Yes, I was. DAVE SENKO: Maybe fill us in on the last few weeks, I know you were in South Africa. COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Sure we started in South Africa in January, then we moved on to the Middle East for three tournaments there. Then across to Florida from the Middle East, which is a nine hour time difference and I really took a long -- I'm taking longer as I get older to get over the jet lag. I used to be quite good at it 25 years ago, but now it's taking longer so hopefully this week I can do better than T-10 as they say. That's tied. We would call it 10th equal, you call it T-10. It's the same, just a different wording. You've changed it. DAVE SENKO: How did you play last week? COLIN MONTGOMERIE: Yeah, I mean, you've got to -- I found, I keep on saying this, if I ever underestimated anything, it's the standard of play out here. The standard of play is extremely good. I didn't see 60 last week. I must admit that was a fantastic score for Michael Allen and all credit to him for hanging on. -

Doncaster Golf Club 125 Years 1894
DONCASTER GOLF CLUB 125 YEARS 1894 – 2019 For all the Members of Doncaster Golf Club Past, Present and Future The Club Captain, Allan Beaumont, Drives In Year 125 with Lady Captain Carole O’Neill watching on. © D A Horncastle © Doncaster Golf Club FOREWORD It scarcely seems credible that 25 years have elapsed since we were celebrating the Centenary of Doncaster Golf Club. Since 1994 many new members have joined us, but many stalwarts still remain. The Yorkshire Golf Union was formed in the same year. So what is the purpose of publishing this booklet? Well, at the beginning of Centenary Year the club published a book which I had researched and prepared over a three year period prior to that time. Many of the existing membership featured in it and many could remember some of the earlier members who had long since departed. The club proved to have had an eventful history which, to my mind, was well worth recording as a tribute to those who have contributed to it. It may sound trite, but we are not where we are today without the efforts of those who have gone before. The history of the club was followed by a booklet which recorded the events which took place during the Centenary Year. Subsequently, all the copies of these two publications have been distributed. Direct reprints are not possible because printing methods have changed radically over the intervening years. The original work was accomplished by cutting and pasting the typewritten text and photocopied pictures into position and leaving the publisher to produce it. -
Sporting Legends: Seve Ballesteros
SPORTING LEGENDS: SEVE BALLESTEROS SPORT: GOLF COMPETITIVE ERA: 1974 - 2008 Severiano "Seve" Ballesteros (born 9 April 1957 in Pedreña, Spain) is a Spanish golfer who was one of the sport's leading figures in the 1980s and 1990s. Ballesteros turned professional in March 1974 at the age of 16. In 1976, he burst onto the international scene with a second-place finish in The Open Championship; he went on to win the European Tour Order of Merit (money title) that year, and repeated his Order of Merit win the following two years. He would go on to win the Order of Merit six times, a record at that time (since surpassed by Colin Montgomerie). Ballesteros went on to win five major championships: The Masters: 1980, 1983 His 1980 win was the first at Augusta by a European player. The Open Championship: 1979, 1984, 1988. He was also a great at match play; he won the World Match Play Championship five times, and was a mainstay of the European Ryder Cup team for much of the 1980s and 1990s. He scored 20 points out of 37 matches against the United States; his partnership with José María Olazábal was one of the most successful in the history of the competition, with 11 wins and two halved matches out of 15 pairs matches. While Ballesteros was a member of European sides that won the Ryder Cup in 1985, retained the Cup in 1987 and 1989, and regained the Cup in 1995, the pinnacle of his career in the competition came in 1997, when he captained the winning European side at Valderrama Golf Club in Sotogrande, Spain.
