WELCOME RAIN: The drought situation in Northland eased a little this week as some welcome rain covered the region. The rainfall exceeded the combined monthly totals of January and February in many places. The New Zealand Herald reported that parts of the region were starting to see grass growth again. However, the Northland Regional Council reported that the rain, while welcome, was only a drop in the bucket when it came to domestic water supplies in many areas. The good news is there has been showery rain forecast for the weekend and early next week. Picture supplied
