Dear Nominating and Governance Committee,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to apply for membership on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. I was introduced to the Legal Aid Society by the non- profit organization Lutheran Men’s Ministry. It would be an honor and a privilege to serve on the Board of the Legal Aid Society. Once being homeless myself I feel a need to assist the people that I know as family and friends. . I think that there is a need one more person like myself to serve on the Board. Therefore, I think that I am one more person that can change the city.

I ran the largest drug prevention ministries in the city of Cleveland. Therefore, I have the spirit of the people that need our help. As an instructor and facilitated in the drug ministry I was able to help hundreds and thousands of people overcome their addictions to drugs. In addition, I have been able to help the same people develop skills to assist them in finding employment, managing the everyday lives, and promoting good parenting skills. Therefore, I have knowledge of how to run an intervention program for a nonprofit agency.

As a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland I could lend a helping hand to assist others that are in need of my expertise. As a minister I have the leadership training and the skills to communicate with the public as a whole. As a mentor I am able to lead by example and show others how to obtain the finer things in life. The Legal Aid Society helps people every day to maintain happiness, hopefulness, and integrity. I would like to work as a member of this team.

Sincerely,

Donell Frazier

Please describe your connection (if any) to The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

I had the support of the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland during my divorce in 2004. Because of my amazing experience with that situation, I have referred individuals from my church, community organization, and personal friends to the resources available at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

Please describe your connection to the organization that has nominated you for this position.

During my ownership of a child care service, I was the provider for one of Beechbrooks clients. My involvement included contact with the case manager, being a part of the safety plan, and providing personal assistance to the foster mother for adequate well rounded care.

Please describe any involvement that you have had with charitable organizations during the last 5 years.

I have served on the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. – Cuyahoga County Section executive board for the past 10 years in the capacity of Corresponding Secretary, 2nd Vice President-Membership Chair, 1st Vice President – Program Chair, and President. It would be an honor and a privilege to work with professionals that are going above and beyond what is expected to offer individuals the assistance to put their life back together, to access a concern, or find a solution to what seems to be an unbearable situation. I believe that the skills, experience, and compassion that I have would be an asset to the Board of Directors and serving would enhance specific areas of my life.

Dear Committee:

Please accept this letter of interest to serve on the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland Board of Directors.

I am interested in serving to offer my assistance to individuals who deserve to have representation that is truly concerned for their wellbeing. As a divorced, single mother of five and a recent college graduate, I treasure the opportunity to offer hope to single parents and children to stay encouraged. I am also interested in increasing my understanding of the services that are available to the public and to help make decisions that will increase the well being of clients that are requiring assistance. My compassion and interest in resources that are available to constituents, equal treatment, and convenience of these resources is the reason that I have worked diligently in non-profit organizations and volunteer as often as I possibly can. I am optimistic and constantly looking for new ways to help families recognize their assets and build on the abilities that they already have. I have skills and training that would be enhanced, as well as, new ones developed as a member of a board that credits itself on fair and just treatment to individuals regardless of their economic status.

I look forward to hearing from you and being a part of the Board of Directors.

Sincerely,

Vanetta J. Jamison
