    Kleinbasel, die Geburtsstätte einer phänomenalen Frau „Caroline Weldon“ (Künstlername) Caroline Weldon starb in ihrer bescheidenen Wohnung, alleine und vergessen am 15. März 1921. Todesursache waren Verbrennungen dritten Grades an ihrem Gesicht und Körper (Zimmerbrand). Am 4. Dezember 1844 ist Susanna Carolina Faesch als drittes und jüngstes Kind geboren, und verbrachte ihre ersten Jahre in Kleinbasel (Nordwest-Schweiz). Ihr Vater war Johann Lukas Faesch, ihre Mutter, als Anna Maria Barbara Marti geboren. Der Vater war Söldneroffizier in französischen Kriegsdiensten (laut Wikipedia). Wiesenbannwart, schreibt Thomas Brunnschweiler* 2017. *Thomas Brunnschweiler, *1954 ist ein freischaffender Schweizer Schriftsteller und Journalist. Er plant einen Roman über das Leben von Caroline Weldon. Der Reinacher wundert sich noch immer, dass es so lange dauerte, bis ihre wahre Herkunft ans Tageslicht kam. Bannwart ist die im alemannischen Sprachraum verbreitete Bezeichnung für einen Flur-, Wald- oder Rebhüter, also eine offizielle Aufsichtsperson im ländlichen Bereich. Vier Jahre nach Susanna’s Geburt verliebte sich die Mutter in den in Basel im Exil lebenden deutschen Revolutionär Karl Heinrich Valentiny. 1849 folgte die Scheidung der Eltern, wobei Valentiny 1850 Basel verließ und nach Amerika emigrierte, wo er eine Arztpraxis im New Yorker Stadtteil Brooklyn eröffnete und betrieb. Anna Maria Barbara folgte ihm 1852, in Begleitung ihrer jüngsten Tochter, Caroline, und heiratete Valentiny. Caroline wurde in New York ausgebildet, sie zeigte großes Talent für Sprachen und auch für Kunst.
