Archive AVCHD Direct to Disc

Use the Roxio AVCHD Archive utility to transfer video from your direct to DVD or Blu-ray disc. AVCHD are convenient (no tape to buy), but on- board storage media can !ll up fast. Instead of transferring the video to your hard drive !rst, where it would quickly eat up your free space, use Creator to archive it direct to disc. You can then pop archive discs into your computer whenever you need video clips for an editing project. Even better, archive discs are playable in Blu-ray and AVHCD- compatible set-top players, so they do double-duty for both storage and playback.

Getting Started:

1. Plug in your camcorder. First, connect your camcorder to your computer as the manufacturer recommends. With most cameras this means plugging it in via USB and turning it on in playback mode. 2. Open the AVCHD Archive Utility. Open Creator, then click on the Video- Movies tab and select “Archive AVCHD Video.” 3. Select clips to transfer. Assuming you have connected your camcorder correctly, the AVHCD Archive utility will show a list of all the video clips on your camera on the left. (If you don’t see them, quit the utility and check that you have followed the manufacturer directions for connecting your camera to your PC. Then open the utility again.) By default, all clips are selected; uncheck any clips you DON’T want to transfer to disc.

4. Previewing a clip. To help with selecting which to transfer, you can play back any clip by double-clicking on it. 5. Check your disc space. Now that you’ve selected the clips you want to transfer, insert a blank DVD or Blu-ray disc. You’ll see a capacity bar showing how much space the selected clips will occupy. A single-layer DVD will hold up to 4.7GB, while a dual-layer DVD will hold 8.5GB. Blu-ray discs will hold 25-50GB. If needed, the utility will prompt you for additional discs when burning.

6. Choose recording options. Click the Options button at top right to choose the number of disc copies you’d like to make. We recommend making two copies, so that you always have a backup. 7. Burn your disc. Now it’s time to click the burn button at bottom right. Notice how we have unchecked a couple of clips on the left that we didn’t want to transfer.

8. Play your disc. When your disc has !nished burning, pop it in your set-top Blu- ray player to check it out, and enjoy viewing your AVCHD camcorder movies on the big screen!
