The 25Th Annual Chesapeake Open August 4-8, 2021 The 25th Annual Chesapeake Open August 4-8, 2021 Sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating Sponsored by The Baltimore Figure Skating Club The Chesapeake Open is pleased to have been chosen by U.S. Figure Skating as the designated, Last Chance Event for the Eastern Section 2021 Solo Dance Series. The Chesapeake Open will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates or Technical Notifications which have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website. This competition will be using the 2021- 2022 Well Balanced Program Requirements for all Singles, Pairs and Dance events. Compliance with these rules as updated or amended is the sole responsibility of the participants and their coaches. This competition will not be offering Final Rounds. This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and who are currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or who is an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-U.S. citizens. The IJS competition will be held on an ice surface that measures 100’ x 200’ with rounded corners, and/or an additional surface measuring 85’ x 200’. This is a USFS requirement. • Masks must always be worn. The only exception: skaters may remove their mask when they step on the ice. Those who violate this policy will be asked to leave the facility immediately. • Temperature will be checked each time you enter the building • There will be NO spectators allowed at this Event • One chaperone (for athletes 17 and under) per registered athlete will be admitted for the athlete’s actual competition time (no access to practice rink). The chaperone must be over the age of 18 and an immediate family member as defined in U.S. Figure Skating’s SafeSport Handbook. • Skate Orders and Results will only be posted Online through EMS. • Medals will be given for 1st – 4th Places and will be presented outside. • Locker Rooms will NOT be available • Come dressed and ready to skate • Social distancing (at least 6 feet apart) must be maintained at all times. Coaches • Masks must always be worn while in the facility • Temperature will be checked prior to entering the facility • A small hospitality is expected to be available for the Coaches. It will not be the same as in previous years but grab and go snacks will be available. • You will not be allowed to stay in the building between events. If you have another skater already in the building, please alert the Usher. • Only 1 coach will be allowed per skater in the building. • You will be assigned a location to coach from during Practice Ice. Please honor that location. Schedule A detailed schedule for the competition is available through EMS Competition Portal. Athletes and coaches have designated times for arrival for both competition and practice ice. No individual will have access to the building without appropriate supervision. Ushers will lead athletes to the appropriate locations for off-ice warm up, access to the ice and out of the building. Building Access and Layout Pathways have been established within the building to minimize footprint and socialization between groups. You will not be permitted access to the building until your designated time per the detailed schedule. Test Credit Process • Requests for test credit must be made online during registration. • Test credit will be emailed to you no later than 2 hours after your event is complete • If you have any questions during the event about your Test Credit, please email [email protected] REQUIREMENTS: Age restrictions/requirements: Singles free skate events (well-balanced program) have the following requirements: Juvenile: Girls – 12 years or younger; Boys – 13 years or younger Open Juvenile: Girls – 13 years or older; Boys – 14 years or older Intermediate must be under the age of 18 Adults must be 21 years or older All test and age requirements must be met at the date entries are closed. Entrants may skate up one level but may not skate down one level. Skaters are allowed to only compete in one level per type of event. Skaters entering pre-juvenile and lower events will be divided as closely as possible by age should the number of entries warrant more than one group. ADULT EVENTS: Age classes for all free skate, dramatic entertainment and light entertainment events: • Young Adult: 18 years through 20 years • Class I: 21 years through 35 years • Class II: 36 years through 45 years • Class III: 46 years through 55 years • Class IV: 56 years through 65 years • Class V: 66 years and older • Age classes for all solo free dance and solo pattern dance events: • Young Adult/Class I/II: 18 years through 45 years • Class III/IV/V: 46 years and older All age classes may be divided or combined depending on the number of entries and at the discretion of the chief referee and/or the competition committee. Men and ladies will be combined in Adult 1 through Adult Bronze free skate events (based on the Adult Competition Series rules), and all levels of solo dance, solo free dance, and dramatic/light entertainment events. Men and ladies will not be combined in Adult Silver and higher free skate events. Athletes in Adult Silver and higher free skate events with no competitor of the same gender in another age class will be offered the opportunity to skate up to the next higher level (if this provides a competitor) or be issued a refund. The chief referee reserves the right to request proof of age. JUDGING SYSTEM: Refer to the composition of events being offered at this competition for details as to which events will be conducted using the International Judging System (IJS) and those events using the 6.0 system. CRITIQUES: Critiques will be offered for all Solo Dance Free Dance events and any Ice Dance couple competing in a Free Dance event who is not staying for the accompanying U.S. Figure Skating Ice Dance Camp. SCHEDULE: Individual group assignments and a tentative schedule of events will be posted on EMS Competition Portal.. PLEASE CHECK FOR SCHEDULE CHANGES PRIOR TO TRAVELING TO THE COMPETITION. If a skater enters multiple types of IJS events, the combined and shadow pricing remains the same. Only a single IJS event will be priced as an additional event of $125. REFUNDS: NO REFUNDS will be granted after the Entry Deadline for any reason, including medical withdrawals, unless an event is cancelled by the Chief Referee.

Moves in the Field test level will not determine skater’s competitive level.     Part of the 2018 Illinois Learn To Skate USA Series Deadline for entry: July 29, 2017 Registrations: All registrations must be done online. Go to http://www.rocketice.com/content/basic-skills-competition-0 to register. The online registration system only allows you to use one email per family. If you have multiple skaters please use a second email address. If you do not have a second email address you may use a fictitious email address ([email protected]). This will not affect your entry. If you are unable to register online please see form at the end of this announcement. All registrations must be received by July 29, 2017. Awards: All events will be final rounds. Medals will be awarded to all places, 1st through 6th. All awards will be presented off-ice immediately following the completion of the event and posting of the results. Awards and pictures will be upstairs in the mezzanine area. Pictures and Videotaping: TBA Dress: All competitors are responsible for their own skating attire. No props or items allowed on the ice. Music: CDs only please. CDs must be clearly marked with the skater’s name and event. Skaters must turn in CDs at the time of registration. Do not forget to pick up your music before leaving.
